Description

Representing the final year of production for the veryversatile and now rare Volkswagen Squareback Type III Wagon, llustrated herein and now offered for your consideration is an absolutely fun and nicely restored representation of this model.
Originating out of West Florida, nd owned by a VW restoration and repair facility owner, t received a rather comprehensive, ery nice driver quality restoration. From my understanding, s conveyed to me by its original owner, he engine was overhauled at approximately 60K miles, nd twin Webercarburetors were installed, eplacing theproblematic fuel injection in most of the models. The current mileage indicates approximately 98K, owever I noted the odometer became intermittent after a couple of months of driving. The Speedometer functions normally and consistently.
The body is very solid, ith one quarter size bubble to the left front lower fender which has not changed. Additionally in the restoration a small metal patch was installed directly beneath the drivers seat floor, nd another one underwhere the battery sets under the right rear seat. All else appears fine, ther than minor surface rust here and there on theunderside of the car, ery normal for the vintage.
Very nice glass, ew weatherstrips and interior, ll the lights function normally and yes, here is heat, lthough these cars were well known for not producing a lot of it. Tires are in excellent condition. New German manufactured front rotors and pads have been installed, nd all oils have been replaced, ew spark plugs, nd points and condenser. The engine will probably require a valve adjustment in the near future in that they are getting a little noisier. I simply haven't had the time to do it. The engine runs very nicely once warmed up,(a little cranky when cold due to thecarburetors) but don't expect James Bond acceleration. These are very nice, nd very fun urban and beach cruisers. Not terribly fast.
TheSquareback Type III comes with two additional center side pop-out vent windows and a factory tachometer (installs where the clock is located), ll of which can be added to the car if you wish.
Please feel free to ask any questions. I stronglysuggest personal inspection, r by a qualified representative of your choosing prior to purchase. As the old saying goes, its not what you expect, ut what you inspect." I do not want any surprises after the sale, r negative feedback because someone didn't do their homework.
Inspection as a condition of sale after the auction has ended will not be permitted. I respectfully reserve theright to end the auction early giventhe Squareback is for sale locally, nd on other international sales venues. Spring is only 11 weeks away, nd prices for these cruisers are going to escalate as we draw nearer.
Thank you for the interest and looking. Enjoy the pictures. Chris
