We are sell our 1970 VW beetle. It has been in the family for over 35 years. I inherited it from my uncle who was an electrical engineer and the 2nd owner. It has about 240K and is still going strong. It has been in storage for at least 6 years, nd a daily driver before that. It has recently had a complete brake job by a vintage VW specialist, ew tires and a new battery with periodic maintenance to keep it in good running order. Runs great! Starts and drives strait down the road. Its never been in a accident and there is no significant rust on the vehicle. the floor pan is in good shape. However, hen pulling it out of storage this time, e did find some rust under the battery. Apparently leaving the trickle charger on in storage caused the last battery to overflow and corroded the pan under it. After using a wire wheel to clean the area we found a hole about 2" in dia. (see the last picture of the area UN-REPAIRED) We had a metal patch brazed in and then refinished with enamel and the appropriate undercoating. Any interested party is welcome to inspect these items to their satisfaction.
As far as the heater ducts, hey are rust free. the door post are solid. The doors close just like they did when it was new. the body is in very good condition with only minor scratches and dings you would expect on a car this old. Same with the interior. there are some rips in the headliner and dash..seats have been re-upholstered, o ave condition. It spent most of its life in California and the rest in covered storage. It has a VW luggage rack worth $200 and a VW towing bar that cost $300. It allows a truck to tow this car with ease. It also comes with a file box full of hard to find original service and repair manuals. Some of which are out of print.
Hope this has more detailed information for everyone.
