The car has 70. 32 miles. believed to be original according to the Actual Miles Arizona Title. service records. and previous owner. This car would make a great addition to VW/Ghia collection. It is also mechanically capable to be driven as a weekend cruiser. This Ghia is also very desirable due to 1973 modifications mandated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that made the 73-74 models include larger taillights and bulkier energy-absorbing bumpers. This Ghia was originally sold at Cotton Goff VW of Buena Park. California. The car spent the earlier part of its life in Anaheim and surrounding Orange county area according to registrations. It was subsequently purchased by its second owner in the early 90's who moved to Aurora. Colorado. While it was there. the owner put the car through an extensive cosmetic restoration from 1994-95. The restoration is fully documented by photos and all receipts. The restoration was performed by Bill Edwards restoration Services of Golden Colorado. Over $7. 00 was spent on paint and body work alone. The body was sanded down to the metal. All door jams. trunk. and under the hood have been repainted. The paint job was high quality and has held up very well over the years. All of the weather stripping. window seals. and headlight seals were replaced as well. On the inside of the car. all carpet. dash pad. and headliner were replaced. Addition receipts show thousands spent on miscellaneous trim parts which is too extensive to list! The car has only been driven a little over 3. 00 miles since the restoration completion in 1995 and it still looks excellent! Mechanically the car is top notch! The engine starts right up and runs strong. The transmission shifts well and the gearbox is tight. The previous owner spent $4. 00 rebuilding the 1776cc engine in 2009. Everything was replaced from heads. lifters. cam. pistons. bearings. etc. The rebuild was done by Competition Engineering in Phoenix. AZ. Other work including rebuilding the carb. installing new spark plugs. distributor. fuel lines. fuel sending unit. brake bleed. steel braded brake lines. 12v battery. and 4 new tires.
