Looking for a Vw Thing? This is a VERY FUN CAR TO DRIVE!!! Within my group of friends. we have nicknamed it THE CARROT! It is a great car to drive as-is and do little fix ups as you go. This Thing is a great driving car. There are a lot of great qualities of this particular Thing and several small easy fix items that will make it a great Thing! I have been enjoying As-is. All lighting works. The turn signals work with the new switch(included) plugged in. it just needs to be installed on the column. The windshield wipers are missing but the wiring is there. it hasn't been a problem for me as I have been using it in the desert. The engine is a rebuilt 1600 with progressive carburetor. It starts right up. idles and responds very well. It is a solid runner. It drips a little bit of oil but nothing unordinary. The transmission is perfect. It performs flawlessly but the gear shifter bushing and coupler. included. need to be replaced as it can be hard to find gears(a very straightforward and easy job). The suspension and steering are very good. The car tracks straight and does not have any steering slop. The top frame is solid. but does have bows in the arms over where the drivers and passengers windows would be. The top is useful. however. has a few small holes and should be replaced soon. I have been driving with the top with no problems but there is no telling when a small hole could become bigger. The top latches that lock the top to the header are missing and I have been using a couple of pieces of stainless wire to attach (works. but takes time compared to having the latches. All of the doors shut well except for the hood. which is bent in the middle which is causing it to lift in the front. A good body shop will have no problem repairing the hood. The Body is very rust free. The front apron has been hit and poorly repaired. as has the rear passenger rocker. Both are shown in photos. The body does not have the appearance of having any other filler. other than the decklid has a little mud visible on the inside of the lid. The frame is very rust free and straight. The floor pans have surface rust on the interior. The seats have recently been recovered up front and are the original hard to find Thing only seats. Tires are new and mounted on the ORIGINAL WHEELS. again very hard to find original Thing ONLY wheels. It still has it's original Thing only front beam. often missing now days. NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!
