My first two sons each wanted traditional muscle cars. nbsp; the oldest a 66 Mustang and my middle son a 1968 Road Runner. How ever my third son wanted a split window VW Bus. The search began and we stumbled on the bus listed sitting beside a barn in SouthWest Oregon just 5 miles from the Idaho border. And of course it was not for sale. The old farmer said it was his sons and he was not selling it. I left him my number and drove off still on the hunt for a bus. We finally found one in Walla Walla Wa. and the restoration begins. Fast forward two years! The farmer is selling the farm and the son now wants to sell the bus. I sure wish I had been able to buy this bus first. The body is much more solid than the one we started out with. According to the previous owner the Bus had been sitting on the farm since 1999 when he bought it. The motor was in pieces when he bought it. The body on the VW is pretty solid as far as old buses go. There are some spots and I have tried to get all of them in the photos. The amazing part is that all of the cabinets and the fold out bed are still intact! The dash retains all the original gauges and is not all cut up it is in nice condition. It looks like the engine may be the original motor for the bus. I took a photo of the casting number. The tires on the bus were long gone so we had the wheels blasted and painted and wrapped them in new rubber. Please look at all the pictures. they will answer most if not all of your questions.
