1966 One of a kind Rat Rod. I built this over the winter to take to a car show and am ready to start on the next project. I found the car sitting in a field where it had sat for many many years. It had a tree on it so the roof needed replaced and we decided to go this direction. The windshield has been chopped 6" and the rollbar was chopped 5". The Interior is burlap coffee bean bags along with cedar fence material and wood paneling. I lengthened the shifter, nstalled new brake, lutch and gas cables along with installing a new piece in the pan for the battery box. Brakes and brake lines were replaced through out the car.It has a new battery as well. The interior pan has been coated in a black rust inhibitor paint, he rollbar is padded and the lights operate on toggle switches. Rearview mirrors are early 50s Plymouth and early 60s chevy.
The front has dropped spindles along with a 10" beam extender and steering extension with dual ujoints. I had fittings welded in to a can of race gas and that is the fuel tank in the front.
The rear is stock height suspension with 18.5" wide mickey Thompson tires.
I clear coated the car with a urethane clear to preserve its rusty looks....
The motor is a 1600 dual port with a new clutch, arburetor, hrome 009 distributor and a bosch alternator. This also has a dog house shroud 36hp style fan shroud. The exhaust along with the tin was powder coated. I installed solid transmission mounts, new heavy duty cross shaft and a new clutch/pressure plate.
As with any rat rod you could always do more however this one is very cool as is and dependable. I drove this all over northern California and around the Vancouver Washington area over the past couple months and I assure you that this car gets lots off attention. Very cool rig to cruise for the summer or to continue modifying with your personal touch. The car currently has the chrome rims on the front but can be had with either chrome or black. If you have ever built something like this then you realize the amount of time this takes. I was back and forth to the parts and hardware store more times than I can remember. If you are looking for a car like this save your time an bunchof time, urns, cratches and cuts and buy one that's ready to go.
