1974 Volkswagen Beetle Special Edition "Love Bug". Fifty miles since completion of engine and clutch rebuild. In late '74 Volkswagen released the Love Bug Special Edition to boost sales. They were all 1974 model year cars produced after June. They were only available in bright green and bright orange only, hey had VWsport wheels and blacked out trim. Each dealer wasissued 10 cars. ThisModel 1191 "Love Bug" was sold new in 1974.
This car is not a remake but rather asurvivor. The body is sold and no known rust at all. I purchased a rebuilt motor from Mid America and had a new clutch installed. All new brakes including lines, heel cylinders, aster cylinder, hoes and drums. New alternator. New German running boards replaced light weight ones. This car is ready to go. Take it to a show and it will be a winner. Floor pans are solid. Original radio plays loud and strong. Get in and drive with no concerns. Tires replaced as well. All the new parts tires, tc have no more than 50 miles on them. Starts right up as it should.
Original and correct restored wheels, ncluding matching spare, ith correct center caps and lug covers.
The engine is a stock 1600 dual port. It is a correct 1974 "AH" block but is not original to this car. It runs perfectly with no leaks of oil, xhaust, rcompression, and I have the receipts for the rebuilt engine. New factory exhaust and chrome tips. All european parts were used where possible. New shocks. Factory heating system in place, never drove this in the cold so I can not comment on itseffectivenessbut it is not rotted so it should work fine. The car has never seen a winter.
Interior has new carpeted trunk and custom carpeted rear shelf. Seat upholstery has been replaced with original style black covers. Original dash pad with NO cracks, riginal headliner, nd all original door panels. Factory radio and speaker work as they should. Glove box is intact and hood release works as it should.
This rare car runs, rives, ooks, nd sounds as you would expect a new engine VW would. It draws interest everywhere it has been driven in the short time since completion. From thumbs up driving down the road to someone commentingat a cruise night this iconic car can't help but get a reaction. It truly is a fun and enjoyable little car. The car has a clean and clear New York title title in hand.
Why am I selling? I have 12 cars and my hobby andtherapeuticrelaxation comes fromtweakinggood cars until they look like they just rolled off the dealer floor. This is my escape where I work on my cars in a 4,000squarefoot building on 20 acres 20 minutes from home. If you pick up this car in person you will see my other cars including a 1966 Batmobile, 3 Mach 1, 6ContinentalMark II and many others. Can help load to ship but all shipping charges are Buyers responsibility. Happy to answer any questions and thanks for looking. Anyone who knows me knows all I have are nice cars. I am a member of car clubs as well as active in SEMA. Good luck and bid now before it's gone!
