Description
This is an excellent condition early 1969 VW Karmann Ghia convertible with the rare Automatic Stickshift transmission. The Ghia drives and shifts flawlessly. This is a solid body car and is originally from southern California where it spent the majority of its life except for the last few years which were in S. Carolina. I purchased the car in 2014 and I had the car totally gone over mechanically including new brake shoes in the rear, ew brake mastercylinder, ew tires, ebuilt engine with new seals including the automatic transmission, eplaced all 4 CVjoints, ot speedometer and odometer working, ew Stayfast canvas convertible top w /headliner and boot, long with some additional maintenance and repairs. It is not the original engine. The horn does not work and the interior dash lights do not work. All exterior lights work correctly - brakes, rights, azard, arking, icense plate, urn signals, ack-up, tc.The interior was re-done by a previous owner and it has nice light blue piping. The interior is in excellent condition. The body has been repainted once, s far as we know, nd it is in excellent condition. The car is clean and only has a few dings or scrapes. One dent is on the front bumper. These are shown in the photos. The automatic stickshift transmission works fine. It has reverse, ow, irst and second. There is no clutch. To switch from first to second you just lift off of the gas pedal, hift, hen push the gas pedal. When we received the car the speedometer and odometer were not working. They are both working now but the odometer reading is not correct and we have no way of knowing the correct mileage. When we purchased the car the odometer read 47,019 and the previous owner thought she had not put 10,000 miles on it and we probably haven't put 500 miles on it. The clock is working but not keeping perfect time. The vintage Blaupunkt radio is still there, ut not working. There is an under dash Blaupunkt radio with a cassette player in the vehicle but the radio stations often don't come in well. It has a new speaker for when the radio stations do come in well or if you are using a cassette. I just got the car the way I wanted it when I found a car that I wanted more! Non-smoking home. Feel free to ask questions before you buy! You will be responsible for pick up of the vehicle or arranging for transport.
