Description

1976 Riviera Pop-topPrice: 15,900This is a mostly original, 976 Volkswagen Bus with Riviera conversion with a pop-top. The bus runs and drives excellent, t just recently drove across several states and the Rocky Mountains. It's got a recently rebuilt 2.0l (3,500mi) with a single Weber, ated to a six-rib tranny.
The paint is mostly og, ith just the rear corners by taillights and along the lower rear passenger wheel well being repainted after some minor body repair. It does have some chipping on the nose and somewhere along the line someone painted under the windshield rubber a darker blue. There is also some bubbling/chipping from some surface rust forming on the panels. All in all, t is a very presentable bus and usable as is for many years to come. There is little underbody rust and no cancerous rust anywhere on the bus. The front floor pans are very solid. It could use some new battery trays.
Inside there is brand new upholstery in the rear of the bus (back bench/bed) and fresh white curtains that replicate the stock all the way around. The front seats are stock as they are in pretty good condition, earing just a few small tears. They are still comfortable to sit and drive in for distances.
The bus still has the original table, ront cupholders, utting board (that stores in the sink) and stove, hough it is missing the stove's unit. It has a sink for both the onboard fresh water tank and one for the city water, owever the city water one has a crack where there was likely water left in the line during winter. The original propane tank is still mounted under the bus as well.
It's got a couple of outlets in the back and an rear cigarette lighter style plug. The two lights for the rear bunk area work well. Tires are good, elatively fresh Hankooks. It's ignition is worn and the key doesn't quite turn it far enough, o a mechanic popped the rear ignition part off and put the lower portion of the ignition from another bus on the wires which you can use fine to start it with a screwdriver. I think he forgot to replace the lower cover on the column as well. You can still easily replace purchase the ignition module to its original position and feel that the key just doesn't quite turn it enough. The poptop canvass is original and in good shape except it has a few tears in the screens. One of the rolling doors on the cabinets isn't liking to go down all the way anymore. I intended on making curtains and removing them.
The stereo installed has a built-in USB and also an AUX and there is two 6"x9" speakers in boxes that can be moved around the bus. It's great being able to play off your phone on long trips.
This is not a restored bus, ut a well cared for bus with the original interior. One can expect some flaws, ut that said this bus is fully functional and ready to camp in. It has been a very reliable camper for our excursions.
