RARE Low Mile (79k)-1978 SunroofDeluxe100% OG Paint.... No Really this Bus has 100% OG paint.... Never restored, esprayed or touched up in any way. Only 79k original miles since new. 2 Owner.Professionally lowered 2 inches for the perfect stance. The interior is all original including headliner, ll interior panels ect. The headliner is nearperfect. The seats upholstery 100% original and in mint condition, NO RIPS or damage) Rebuilt factory fuel injected 2 liter hydraulic valve motor. The bus rides awesome with the lowered stance and KYB gas shocks.Very rare to findvan that has 100% og paint in this kind of original condition. This van had been garaged most of its life. Many man hours and a lot of money have gone into the preservation of this bus with the goal to keep it as original as possible....
ENGINE- Rebuilt factory fuel injected 2 liter hydraulic valve motor with approx. 20k miles on it. Brand new Empi Monza style 4 tip exhaust (not pictured, just installed it yesterday, ounds awesome). At the time of the rebuild the clutch, ressure plate, rough out bearing, uel and vac lines as well as many other misc parts were replaced. New battery. Fresh complete tune up including but not limited to plug wires, otor, ap, oints, ondenser, il change, ilter service. The motor is finely tuned and runs perfect. The engine bay is very clean and tidy (see pictures).There is no comparison to a well running fuel injected 2 liter motor in tip top shape. The motor runs strong and at high way speeds easily...
TRANSMISSION- Transmission shifts perfectly. The transmission has a updated short throw Scat racing shifter so the shifting is crisp and precise. A huge improvement over wobbly stock shifters.
PAINT & BODY- Rare Sunroof, his bus was garaged for a majority of its life. 100% original paint, O REALLY 100% ORIGINAL PAINT......Rare factory orange with original pin stripes. NO PAINT WORK EVER.. (There is nothing hidingunder the paint, his is a no stories bus)I had the original paint professionally polished. I took the van to a professional detail shop. They spentmany hours polishing the paint to a beautiful finish. The body is super strait with only a few small dings and scratches to be expected of a almost 40 year old van wearing all of its og paint. Under carriage, rame, ack points, ose, loors, og legs, nner rockers, ll doors, nd gutters are completely rust free, the bus is 99% rust free). Only corrosion is in the battery tray area,THERE IS NO RUSTon the body... Both front and rear bumpers wereupdated with chrome for a better look.All four wheels were completely sand blasted and powder coated.
INTERIOR- The interior is in excellent original condition. Mint front, ear and middle seat, o tares, he padding isstill like new.All interior door and kick panels are 100% original to the bus. Most of the interior panels were removed, he vinyl was carefully removed as it was in excellent condition. I used the old card board panels as templates and cut new Birchwood panels and re glued the factory vinyl panels on the re cut birch wood panels. (the old card board panels were warped). The end result is the original interior vinyl over the birch wood panels. The newpanels will never warp again and look almost brand new. This process took many hours and was very time consuming to do but well worth the effort. The original head liner is perfect. The ONLY tare is a small 2 inchtare on the sunroof section that slides back. The rest of the headliner is near mint with no tares.....Grant steering wheel. The original deluxe clock still works..
SUSPENSION & BRAKES-The van was professionally lowered 2 inches,KYB gas shocks.New brakes as well asbrake lines.The wheel bearings were repackedat the time brakes were done. (The bus handles and drives more like a car than your typical VW Bus and does not have the typical swaying that stock height vans have).
OTHER- New tires front and rear. CD player with 6x9 speakers. Sliding rear windows (rare on a deluxe) and excellent for much needed ventilation on a hot day. Vintage 1978 licenses plate frame, inted windows.
Once in a while you find van that has been well cared for its entire life, his is one of them... 100% original paint survivor late model fuel injected Sunroof deluxe in a desirable color combination. This is a rare bus to begin with. Super rare to find one in this kind of original condition.Many hours went into the preservation of this bus. There are many things I have listed that have been done to this bus. With the rebuilt fuel injected 2 liter motor, cat racing shifter, uspension and brake work this bus runs and drives more like a car than a bus. The additional power from the upgraded rebuilt motor andlowered stancemake this bus perfect for highway and long distance driving. No expense or man hours were spared on this preservation. I am regretfully selling this bus so I can finish other projects. This is a no story's bus with no hidden problems like so many other "restored buses" on the market today. This is one of the finest Bay Window sunroof buses in the country....
Put the sunroof back and cruise, here is nothing like a sunroof bus on a nice day.
