I am selling my 1994 volvo 850. As of right now I believe that she has a blown head gasket, r possible bad ect. Or possible bad waterpump or something as water is getting into the crankcase while im cranking now. I purchased her in September 2015 here in the Florida panhandle where she was initially purchased by the original owner. The guy who sold it to me didn't know too much about Volvos but at the time it had stalling issues. I purchased the car from him took her home and replaced the Mass Air Flow sensor and she ran like a dream. This is my second Volvo 850 my first one I purchased in 2008 and my dad still drives that one back in Cincinnati Ohio still this day. Any way back to this one...I had this baby riding so damn good and I was so proud of myself for finding her. Everything worked on here from the heat to the ac to the sunroof, mean everything. No leaks no nothing. I put 8,000 trouble free miles on her in a few months, mean she was running so good that I just didn't want to get out of her. In the end of December I noticed that she was getting warm not hot and I had steam coming from the front of my car and I immediately pulled over into a tom thumb and let her cooled down. I noticed that the radiator had a crack in it. So I had my girlfriend take me to the auto parts store and I put some steel seal on the radiator. Put coolant into her and drove her home just fine without overheating her again. Got on ebay and ordered a radiator. Radiator came in the mail I installed it. Put new coolant in her started and she was back to normal other then the fact that the temperature was a little low on the temp gauge at times. I drove her another 180 miles or so before I decided to replace the thermostat. Replaced the thermostat and the temperature went back to where it was suppose to be. Drove away from the auto parts store and I had a low oil pressure light on and the car cut off. She started back up but she was stalling at idle however it never overheated again. I get it to the grocery parking lot her but I cant get her to start back. And as I am cranking water enters into the crankcase. Changed the oil and oil filter and didnt put any coolant into her this time. But she still wont turn over. She will crank and crank and crank but I cant get her to fire. Replaced the spark plugs and wires when I first got the car. Didn't do cap and rotor, nd I also didn't change the ECT but I was told that the ECT, ngine coolant temp sensor can cause a no start as well but I didnt have a code for that sensor. I checked the codes and the only code I got was for an A1 114 codes which is suppose to be for the PNP switch. Erased the code but it still wont start. Im not sure if its a head gasket, ater pump, np switch or starter. All I know is that I give up. Im guessing that if it is a head gasket that maybe that is what is causing low oil pressure? I really don't know. But it was running so damn good until I put the damn thermostat in it. And I really would doubt that a with it being warm for about 2 minutes and it being in the red for about 30 seconds that the head gasket would blow, ut either way im done maybe someone else can bring her back to life. I will attach a link to a youtube video so that you can hear me trying to crank the car. Youtube video here you may have to copy and past this into your address bar: https://youtu.be/T1N7IL-6vy8
I also forgot to mention that the car has really good maintenance records and it appears that the timing belt has been replaced twice...I will include most of the maintenance records in the pictures. The driver seat back portion isn't catching in order to return to a total upright position. However this motor is still fine and this repair is very fixable and the diy is on youtube. Also the title is a clean ohio title that matches my drivers license.
The first set of pictures are from when I first got her. And the last set of pics are how she sits now. Brand new battery comes with the car, s well as the brand new radiator that I installed and thermostat as well. Have receipts for all parts as well. I have the right to end auction at anytime as car is listed locally as well. Non refundable $250 deposit is due immediately at auctions end. And the remainder when you come to pick up the car.
