I have owned this car for 8 years and done as much as I can to improve and maintain the mechanics of the car. It’s the fourth 1800S I’ve owned and is a great driver. It’s mechanically sound and the improvements made are listed below. It is ready for cosmetics inside and out, but can be used as is. The interior is presentable with no tears in the front seats and 2 small tears in the top of the rear seat. All guages, including the clock, work properly. It has a modern radio with CD player, USB port and AUX jack for a phone or iPOD; there are 2 rear speakers. I’ve taken it to the 700+ car cruise at Bear Mountain State Park and to Caffeine and Carburetors in New Canaan, CT and get many compliments at both events, so it still shows well. I’ve driven it regularly and it has never broken down (not even a flat tire). It has good rubber and the wheels are balanced and aligned. This car starts easily with the choke and runs well at all temperatures. I have avoided taking it out in the rain, but have been caught twice in storms when returning from car shows and it did very well getting me home. It is garaged year round and not driven from the first snow of winter until all the salt has been washed off the roads. The transmission and overdrive work well. A previous owner replaced the points and condenser with an electronic system; it still has its original Bosch distributor. The engine is original and I believe the transmission and rear end are too. The underside is solid as are the cross members, frame boxes and front rails.
