Description

Some people said that it couldn't be done. but here is proof that it can. This is my turbocharged 1974 142 GL. I bought this vehicle back in 2005 because at the time I was looking for cheap winter transportation. It came from North Carolina and the body was pretty much rust free. I was told that it didn't need much to get this car to run. Once I started. however. I noticed that just about everything needed to be replaced. It took me more than two years to complete. You might not realize it from the outside. but this car has been modified quite a bit. First of all. it is powered by a . 120" over B20 motor. with a custom built TO4E 50 Garrett turbo with a 3" downpipe. The air charge is cooled by a custom water to air intetrcooler from ProECM. The engine is fueled by using RC-Engineering 750cc fuel injectors. which are controlled by Racetech's SDS fuel management system. The engine is mated to a Mustang T5 transmission. coupled through a SPEC clutch. Lastly. the rear end has a Dana/Spicer Power-lok unit. I have not dynoed. nor taken this car to the track. However. I can guarantee you that I have at least doubled the power of the engine from stock. The suspension was altered as well. The car has been dropped approximately 2" by using VPD's springs. I am using Bilsteins HD shocks and custom made 17" x 7" wheels. The car handles great with this setup. I installed vented front brakes similar to the ones used on the 160-series Volvos. I changed the front end to look more like a '71-72 140. I just like that look better. It has a very rare Volvo GT grill on front. Good luck in trying to find one. It still uses the big rear bumper. The car was repainted in its original Volvo color. The rear wing is a very rare item as well. It is a Volvo Grp A 240 wing. Pretty much the wings were used on the race cars. The seats and interior panels are all original out of a 1977 Volvo 242GT. I found a 240 GT gauge cluster on eBay and custom installed it to the dashboard that was taken from a 1984 240. I added a wide band air/fuel mixture gauge. boost gauge. exhaust temperature and oil temperature gauge. This car looks more like an airplane than a car. The headliner also came out of the 1984 car. They made 100. 000's Volvo 140s. but very few people collected them and very few are in existence now. This one is in exceptionally good condition and has very rare items/options. This car even has a factory sunroof and power steering. This is not a show car. but a driver. I hate to sell it. However. I am in the middle of finishing a Volvo 122 and all ready started on a 1965 Volvo 544. These two cars will replace my 140. I don't drive it much and would like to gain a little bit more space inside my garage. This car is not perfect but respectable. The car is sold as is condition with no warranties. If you have a zero feedback. please contact me first before bidding; otherwise I'll delete your bid. Good luck and let me know if questions. Thanks.
