I bought this jeep3-4 years ago from a guy in Oklahoma, ity. He says that he bought it from a rancher in Colorado on an Elk Hunt. The Jeep was parked in a barn with back end exposed to the weather. The only rust on the Jeep is on the tail gate and rear quarter panels where it was probably exposed to snow and rain. The condition and equipment on the jeep supports this story. The jeep is 60 years old this year so there is plenty of wear and tear but other than that the jeep is in remarkable condition. I attribute this to the quality of the original KOENIG steel hard top. When I loaded this jeep in OK City I drove in heavy rain back to Lake Livingston. Not a drop of rain was inside that cab. This haspreserved the floors front and back. Even the under seat tool box is solid. The floors are not rusted out.I replaced the glove box and it even has a working latch. The jeep has been garage kept since I bought it and only driven occasionally.
If you are a hunter all you have to do is gas it up and go. If you are a collector you know your choices. Don't touch it or do enough work to take it back to its original color, quipment etc. The primary color on the Jeep now is orange but I don't believe that this is original. There is another layer showing that is either the original coloror some kind of super primer that is a dark brown color. All of the windows and windshield are good. The rubber seals around the cab windows should be replaced. They are just dry and hard now. The engine is strong, o smoke. Cranks easy and runs smooth and strong. Steep hills in 2nd gear are no problem. 4WD shifts and works good. Hi and low range works as it should. I don't think that I have ever driven and older Jeep that does not jump out of 2nd gear on a down shift but this one does not. Seat covers are good front and back. Ready to use as is. The wood backing in the rear seat will need some work next year. Normal amount of oil drips from all running gear. Nothing drains dry between uses. New equipment includes: Mud grip tires. steering linkage, enerator, ubber fuel lines, eater water lines, ll four wheel cylinders, tainless steel door latches.
Speedometer and cable are in place. Needle jumps around but the speedoclearly is not working properly. As with most jeeps this old the actual mileage is unknown because the cable gets fouled easily. The handbrake handle and cable are in place but not working. The handbrake drum is in place on the rear of the transfer case but I don't know if the internal pieces or shoes are there. Lights work . Turn signal handle is in place but that wiring needs some attention.
This Jeep is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
