Up for auction is this 1984 Alfa Romeo Spider as pictured in overall good shape but this is a driver quality car and not quite ready for Pebble Beach so please view the pictures and if you have any questions not covered I will be glad to answer. That said what we have here is a nice little Alfa Spider in the best color combo of red exterior and tan interior and it is equipped with the mock-Ferrari style wheels that makes these cars just stand out from other spiders with the standard Alfa wheels.
This is a typical Italian sportscar from the '80s with typical '80s build quality with typical Alfa quirks but it still does turn heads and if you are still reading you already know what you are in for if you purchase anything from the Land of the Boot. The engine is the Alfa's strongest point and if taken care of these 4cylinders have incredible longevity. To drive a pure car like this will put a grin on your face as if you just were tossed the keys to your fathers car for the first time. 5 Speed transmission shifts as it should. Exhaust is good and the Alfa is a pleasure to listen to inside or out.
The exterior will naturally look better in pictures, he paint is Ok but up close has some flaws but nothing out of the ordinary for a 30+ year old car. Could use a good detailing but to do it up right new paint would be in order. Top is good but the back window has cracking. Trunk is good with a full size spare that matches the other 4 wheels. No rust in the trunk but there is s couple places of rust only by the lower trim of the rear window area forward of the trunk. Nothing terrible but it will need to be addressed.
Tires have good tread but are old and should be replaced.
Interior seats need some cleaning but are in good shape as pictured. Interior in general is good but the dash is cracked (pictured). I will include another tan dash (pictured) that has one crack that you can repair and fix and then replace the dash that is in there.
As this is an Italian car, on't expect everything to work. I can get the mirrors to work, ut the power windows don't want to, ither one. Since both don't work my guess is it is a fuse. Fan doesn't want to work but a button does light up the fan icon on the dash so I have no idea what is going on there.
Now, ere is the biggest Gremlin, his Alfa has an intermittent issue with the fuel pump. Sometimes it will not start, o fuel as no fuel pump is working. Other times it starts right up. After a few hours of investigation I believe it has to do with the fuse located behind the rear seat under the shelf. After jiggling it a bit it turned on, dled for 30 minutes and I thought the problem was fixed. I go out to move the car a week later and nothing and no amount of jiggling gets it to work. Then I leave it and go out to it a few days later and it works. So, efore anything this little gremlin needs to be exorcized forever.
The front has a parking lot impact area almost dead center (pictured).
Take a look at the pictures, f you want a great little car that needs some minor work this is it, f you want a daily driver please look under Toyota or Honda heading on Ebay as this is NOT for you. But if you understand basic car maintenance and believe your garage is where you WORK on a car and not just park one than perhaps this car is for you. I am sure I forgot something here and will be glad to answer any questions you have.
