If only cars could talk, we would love to hear the story that this first year AMC Javelin SST would tell. We know some of it's history, and have made some of our history with this fun ride! This is the kind of car that starts up every time you want to take a cruise, stays cool and has a rumble that rivals the best. After SEMA 2015 you can see a growing number of what I would call "Muscle Rat" which are cars like this one with a throwback to the 70s custom vibe with a well built powertrain and patina. This car is a love it or hate it kind of ride, but either way its always photographed wherever she goes! We have had a blast owning this car and from the moment you hear her fire up, she produces nothing but smiles!
But, back to this Javelin’s story: We bought this car from a Hollywood picture car builder from the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise that he used to cruise in California to the huge car events and coffee meets. He loved its raw nostalgia, crowd pleasing rumble and bad boy attitude this car portrays and we have to say it caught our attention too! The story only keeps getting better as he bought this car from Universal Studios backlot a few years ago and over the last few years put a lot of time and money into this car; in its poweplant, disc brakes, wheels and overall drivability. We keep thinking with its 70’s inspired metal flake, that has been on it for most of its life, that someone may see it and it jog their memory as to even more of the history to this car. It was obviously bought to be used in some sort of television show or movie. If you look closely at the items used in the interior, you will see that most of them are exactly like the ones used in Dom's Chevelle along with other cars from the movies.
Once purchased by a picture car builder from Universal Studios he proceeded to make it a road worth hot rod. It has serious rumble and serious power and actually gets more attention then most muscle cars out there. Partially for its rebel look and partially because you don't see AMC’s heading down the road much. If you are looking for a road worthy beast to cruise to your local car meets or burn out contests this ride will not disappoint. Since we have had it we have taken it to Goodguys 6th Spring Lone Star nationals and gave her a pass on the Autocross track.

This first year AMC Javelin really is a car of many firsts with fiberglass safety padded and flush mount style integrated door handles. This example started life as an upgraded SST model and at some point was customized and then sat on the studio warehouse for many many years. A piece of untold history.
Don't let the vintage patina paint fool you to what is underneath and under the hood. You can clearly see what a nice body this car has and you can decide to freshen the paint or leave her as she is….. an attention grabbing story to tell.
History of the AMC Javelin:
The AMC Javelin is a front-engine, rear wheel drive, two-door hardtop manufactured and marketed by AMCin two generations, 1968-1970 and 1971-1974. Styled by Dick Teague, the Javelin was available in a range of trim and engine levels, from economical pony car to muscle car variants. In addition manufactured in Kenosha, Washington, Javelins were assembled under license in Germany, Mexico, Venezuela, as well as Australia —and were marketed globally.
As the winner of Trans-AM race series in 1971, 1972, and 1976, the second-generation AMX variant was the first pony car to be used as a normal highway patrol police car by a U.S. organization. -wikipedia
