He purchased it as I was told from his brother in 1992 and stored the car inside his garage until I bought it. The car had been sitting the whole time due to a bad engine. His plans were to fix it but he never got around to doing it due health and old age. I located a replacement 283 v8 engine to put in the car and sent it out to have the heads machined. new head gaskets. had the engine pressure checked and replaced valve guides. new rear and front main seals. timing cover gaskets. intake gaskets. oil pan gaskets. oil dipstick. plugs and wires. rotors points condenser. etc. we did a new fuel pump and rebuilt the carb and had a new battery put in. We had a new brake master cylinder installed. We did a oil change and filter and had a new ignition and trunk lock put on. We had a complete new exhaust system installed. This car now starts on the first crank. The auto trans shifts the way it should. The car stops the way it should. As the video shows. this car drove great at 60 mph and it handled the way a original 57 chevy should in my opinion. When I saw this car for the first time. I was shocked by how original and unmolested this car appears to be. THIS IS A TRUE SURVIVOR. I can not detect any repaint on the car so I believe this is original paint. The interior has survived very well as pics and video shows and looks all original. Can definitly be left and used the way it is. The oil temp guage and alt guage work but the speedo is in/op. the gas tank guages shows pegged at full. It is running off of the original gas tank. The original should be cleaned out as after i used it here and there. I replaced the fuel filter as there was some sedimentation in it. All of the turn signal lights. headlights. brake lights tailights work. The tires hold air but I do not know how old they are. they do have servicable tred. It has factory color coded wheels and hubcaps. The glass is all there and as video shows. the windows all operate. There was one crack in the flat glass of driver door. (easy fix). The trunk and floor pans look solid as far as i can see and the frame is rust free. The rear shocks felt weak (easy replacment) I do not want to overcall this Belair 210 or undercall it. this is a great car to drive the way it is and enjoy showing off the originaluity and how much of a survior it is. I personally would be proud to take it to any car show. I have only driven this car about 50 miles since owning it so I am trying to accuratly describe it for what it is. Understand you are buying a 58 year old survivor car. some things may go unseen to us. This is a extremely rare find that in my opinion should be left the way it is and enjoyed. I invite you to come and inspect the car or hire ebay to do a inspection for you before placing a bid. I can help recommend shippers i have used in the past who have been very reasonable!
