In ’61 Chevy gave the Impala an all new look. The fin s were gone and they had a new look out front with a new grill and bumper. They were well known as the bubble top. but this one is a drop top that has a ton of eye appeal and is a great driver. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior. interior. and heartbeat of the Chevy. but first we would like to tell you a little about us. Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned. operated. and own our entire inventory. no consignments. and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 50 to 60 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So. that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. When you look down the side it’s straight with good fit of the panels. All the stainless looks good and lines up well. Everything is covered in the Black paint that is slick with a deep rich shine and is accented by the Black Power Top. The bumpers were replaced at the time of the resto as well as the weather stripping. It has the correct SS Trim with the insert in the stainless being painted red to flow with the interior. This ’61 has the bumper guards and the factory fender skirts. The finale exterior touch is the set of American Racing Wheels with 18’s on the front and 20’s on the rear. Next. we will take a look at the interior of the Convertible. On the inside it’s done in the classic color scheme with the bench seats. They are covered in Red And White with the factory door panels being done in red as well as the convertible boot cover. Also the carpet and dash is done in red. The dash is all correct with only a tach being added. The radio was changed to an AM FM. Finally. we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it’s powered by a 348 V8 with a 4 Speed Trans and the stock rear end. Everything looks as it would have been when new in ’61 with factory power brakes and steering. It retains the factory exhaust manifolds and has dual exhaust. The floors are solid with some pans replaced. but they did a nice job. All the frame looks good and solid. This is a great car that you can put the top down and cruise. We are advertising it to be an SS clone.
