Description
For sale is this beautiful 57 Chevy Sedan Delivery. This solid, straight Southern California car was discovered, purchased, and fully dialed in by my buddy Bob, owner of Elco Welding in Venice CA. Bob is a master fabricator/welder and local legend with over fifty years of hot rod building under his belt. His work is top notch, and highly sought after. Bob found this former drag racer in a local car port, where it had sat for 25 years. The previous owner had started returning it to the street with a full paint job, and new interior. He passed on, leaving the car to sit. Bob started the renovation by dropping the gas tank and flushing it, replacing all the fuel lines, and adding a marine spin on fuel filter. The early 70s 350 motor is very healthy. It has angle plug heads, a rebuilt 625cfm carb, and a rebuilt distributor with new plug wires. The transmission is a tight Muncie four speed, driving a rebuilt rear end with new bearings, axles, and 3.55 gears. The suspension got new shocks, the bushings are all good. The car still wears the sturdy traction bars from its strip days. The brakes have been fully rebuilt with a dual master cylinder, new lines front to back, new drums, shoes, and hardware. The steering is tight and smooth. The block and radiator have been pressure flushed, and a heater core installed. The dash was out, so Bob rewired it, installed some vintage S W gauges, and got everything working and tidy before reinstalling it. The wiring in the engine compartment was replaced and cleaned up as needed. All the lights, switches, and controls have been restored and work great. The body is smooth and straight, with minimal evidence of body work. While sitting, the sun weathered the new/old paint on the rear of the body, so Bob did some touch up, and buffed the whole car to a brilliant patina. The new/old interior is in great shape, with only sun damaged carpet below the back window, and the foam in the 63 Impala buckets starting to settle. The seats, doors, and headliner upholstery is a nice tweed fabric in excellent shape. New door glass and seals. There is a small amount of rust on an inner rocker that is pictured, along with surface rust on the original bumpers. The rest of the trim was stored in the car, and is in great shape. Bob hand made some beautiful stainless steel mirror brackets to top it all off. There are plenty of other details I am missing, Bob takes great pride in his work and leaves nothing untouched. He chose a very worthy car for his efforts, and the end result is just plain amazing. The car fires right up, sounds beefy(flow master dual exhaust). It steers, drives, and stops like a new 1957 Chevrolet. The motor pulls hard, burns rubber, doesn't overheat. You can, and should, drive this car anywhere, right now! I've hung out at the shop for the last few months watching this car come together, and if I had the dough, it would be mine. This is a rare opportunity to buy a solid, dependable, well sorted hot rod from an honest, talented, well respected builder.Feel free to call me, Chris, @ 310-722-6916. I'll handle all the logistics for Bob, and put you in touch with him if you want more details.Update- Bob has continued working on the car, including repairing the rust spot pictured with a patch welded in, installing a really nice new old stock antennae, new made in USA heater hoses( the heater cranks!), custom breather hose, and 4 nice Goodyear tires. The interior has been cleaned up. The car is looking real good! Bob is open to trading for a 64-66 Mustang convertible, as well.
