Description

Selling my 35000 mile, owner Dodge Dart that was a one owner car until 2008. It has one repaint that looks great. Not Barrett-Jackson but far from Maaco. Has NEVER had any rust. The trunk, oors and underside are very clean. It has a new vinyl roof because the original had a tear in it. The interior is very nice and not cut up. I have the window sticker, riginal bill of sale, uild sheet and even an inspection sheet that probably wasn't supposed to be left in the car when it was made. The bumpers are re-chromed and the glass is clear and blemish free. Honestly, he only cosmetic flaw is that the door handles and outside mirror are pitted. Kind of strange for a rust-free car. I have O.E. used ones that look better but I've not put them on.
Now for the fun stuff. I bought this car in 2013 from a guy in Illinois who did all of the mechanical changes from it's original 318 form. He knows his stuff and did a great job on it. It's now got a 5.9 Magnum (Modern version 360 cubes) that came out of a '99 Durango with about 80,000 miles on it. It was stripped down to the short block and new heads and intake/carb were installed. He developed a website as a guide to others that might want to do this swap, ven though it was quite easy. It will provide a lot more information about the car if you look at magnumswap.com. Ihave uploaded a walk-around video on YouTube titled "1971 Dodge Dart with 5.9 Magnum." for another view of the car and so you can hear it idling. There is also a video on there posted by the previous owner running it at the track titled "1971 Dodge Dart vs. Pontiac G8".
Here are some pertinent details:
ENGINE: 5.9 Magnum. Cylinders measure about .0015 wear and compression is good and even. Rings are good. Doesn't smoke. Has new oil pump and water pump, f course. Dyno'd at 330 HP at the wheels. Runs great on Premium pump gas. Has 10:1 compression.
TRANS: Professionally built 904 with reverse pattern, anual valve body. Has a transbrake and custom designed torque converter. Does not have much stall. Built for strip/street duty.
HEADS: Iron Rams from Hughes Engines drilled for dual intake pattern (LA and Magnum). Flow better than Edelbrock Aluminum. I just had bronze guides installed in them and had a valve job done. I replaced the valve springs as a precaution while it was easy.
CAM: Custom grind Hyd roller by Comp. Works great with the engine. Idle sounds like a cam should but isn't radical. Idles nice in gear. These engines had Hyd rollers from the factory.
INTAKE/CARB: Edelbrock Air Gap dual plane with Hollley Street Avenger 670. Has an electric choke. Starts up and idles nicely warm or cold.
IGNITION: Mallory Hyfire with throttle stop and rev limiter.
EXHAUST: Hooker Competition headers with 2 1/2" TTI X-pipe system. Flowmasters and tailpipes. Sounds great outside. Pretty quiet until you press the fun pedal. Won't rattle your teeth out inside.
DRIVELINE: Has a really strong aluminum driveshaft going to an 8 3/4 with 3.91's. Large bolt pattern on all 4 corners. Moser axles and Caltracs. Detroit Locker diff that doesn't bind when turning.
BRAKES: Front disc conversion, ear drum. All new brake lines, actory bent.
I don't want to give you the impression this is some hacked up drag car. It was built for racing with high quality parts but was all tastefully done with a priority in keeping it rather stock looking and street friendly. If racing is your thing, here is a lot left in this car. A 408 stroker kit is only $1700. If you want to just enjoy it on the street, t's ready to go. It drives great! I have a 3.23 posi diff that I will sell for $400 if higher gearing is preferred for cruising. I'm simply selling it because we have bought a late model Mustang convertible and don't have the room to store both cars. Cars like this are not easy to find. I'm fussy with my stuff and you will not be disappointed. I would sell this car to a friend and have nothing to hide. The reserve is reasonable.
Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
