GORGEOUS 1959 FORD THUNDERBIRD TBIRD CONVERTIBLE FULL ROTISSERIE RESTORATION GORGEOUS ROTISSERIE RESTORED 1959 THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLEUNQUESTIONABLY ONE OF THE MOST DESIRED OF ALL 1950s CLASSICSRESTORATION HIGHLIGHTS. AMONG THE BEST TO BE FOUND390 CID FE ENGINE HAS ORIGINAL (REBUILT) 352 CID HEADS. The first dozen images are intended to give a quick overall presentation of the car from a variety of vantage points. Seasoned collectors know that the better the car. the better it looks CLOSE-UP. so there are several sets of close-ups for serious buyers featuring the Rotisserie Restoration. Convertible Top Operation by Steps. Engine Compartment. Exterior. and Interior. To see ALL the images. you MUST place your cursor on an image - allow plenty of time for all images to download - and then scroll slowly ALL the way to the bottom. CAUTION: if you use the scroller to the FAR RIGHT of your screen or the "Click to view image album" feature. you will NOT see all the images. OVERALL RESTORATION OBJECTIVES. were to have a VERY high quality classic that anyone would be proud to take to shows. but that would also be DRIVEN! It is not "over restored" or so "super-finished" as to make an owner afraid to drive it. To put this into perspective. I have a 1965 Thunderbird convertible that achieved a First Place Senior award at an official Vintage Thunderbird Club International Meet in Charleston. It is a fine car. but this 1959 is restored to a higher standard. It should easily be worthy of a First Place Senior award as well. OPERATIONAL REPORT. the car drives very smoothly and confidently. The car is very well-equipped with Power Windows and Factory Air-Conditioning. Power is improved considerably by the clever substitution of the same Ford "FE" block-derived 390 cid engine for the original 352 cid unit (the 352 heads were retained and rebuilt though. and help maintain original engine compartment appearance). The Power-Assisted Brakes work well. but keep in mind that the drum and power "assist" design of that time is no competition for today's 4-wheel disc brakes. you will hear the pedal action "assist" working. and (of course) more distance is required to stop than modern cars. The only item that we could find on the car that was not operational was the windshield washer. a common condition for virtually all these cars. THE MOST RELIABLE TOP OPERATION OF ANY 1958-1966 THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE. Ford led the industry in elaborate and sleek convertibles from the late 1950s and well into the 1960s. They did this by TOTALLY concealing the top of their high-end convertibles. This required an enormous engineering effort. The 1958 convertible was delayed for so long. that only a miniscule 2. 34 were produced. And. they were not fully automatic until late 1959. This early 1959 (produced July 8. 1958) has the advantage of NOT having the overly complex and famously trouble-prone fully automatic top. It's semi-automatic (but with FULL power extension and retraction of the convertible top itself) is thoughtfully engineered and extremely reliable. The easy steps to lower/erect the top are outlined in detail in the images at right. 2. 41 TRANSACTIONS WITH HAPPY PEOPLE! As of the date of this listing. we've had 2. 41 transactions (both buying and selling) on eBay without a single complaint. One of the keys to our selling success is the use of LARGER and MORE images than you will likely see in ANY other eBay listing. so you can CLEARLY see what you are getting. QUESTIONS? Please call Jim Murphy at 706-429-7924 if you have any questions that this description or the pictures at right do not answer for you. INVESTMENT POTENTIAL. the 1959 Ford Thunderbird Convertible has very few survivors. and of these. the original condition of the unitized body is critical and even fewer were as solid as this fine Southern survivor. The 1958-1960 Thunderbirds Convertibles are arguably the most glamorous and influential of ALL 1950s classics. For it was this car that popularized the center control console - flanked by two bucket seats. Almost EVERY modern sedan and coupe has this original Thunderbird console/seat arrangement! What other 1950s car had this LASTING influence. and that persists today! BRIDGES THE "GENERATION GAP". it's a funny thing. Kids today will see this car going down the street and immediately stop whatever they are doing to smile and wave. They may not know what year it was made. or even the make. but they DO know that it's COOL! VIN NUMBER DECODING: H9YJ156674 decodes as follows. H (352 cid engine) 9 (1959 model year) Y (Wixom. After retiring from 30 years of sales and marketing in a Global 100 company. I formed Murphy Endeavors. LLC and began buying and selling classic cars as a collector and for friends and clients. This beautiful 1959 Thunderbird Convertible belongs to a fellow Classic Car enthusiast. Please note that I have had 2. 41 eBay transactions with 100% Positive Feedback and have sold classic cars to happy eBay customers in Brazil. Sweden. Switzerland. France. Germany. Australia. Russia. Canada. Japan. and throughout the United States. IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS & CONDITIONS OF SALE. the Buyer will receive a Notarized Bill of Sale and the Georgia-issued (clear) Registration Document. which is proof of ownership for ALL pre-1962 vehicles in the State of Georgia. Georgia did not begin issuing auto titles until 1962 and does not issue them for ANY pre-1962 cars. Though significant dollar investments have been made to make this Thunderbird a reliable and satisfying road performer. it remains a 56-year old vehicle with 56-year old technology. Continual maintenance and a painstaking restoration has made this one of the best examples one will likely ever find. but continued maintenance will be needed in the future. As owners of 1950s cars well know. even the best restored classics will need repairs from time to time. and often without notice. Therefore. this sale is strictly on an as-is and final basis with no warranties or liabilities expressed or implied. Every effort has been made to present this car completely and accurately to the best of our knowledge and resources. but errors and oversights are possible. Therefore. pre-purchase examination of the car (if desired) is welcomed before (not after) the listing's end and can be easily arranged by appointment. QUESTIONS?
