Description

If you had a choice to buy an ordinary vintage car and one with a fantastic story, hich would you rather purchase? As for me I would rather have a great story any day of the week. Model T's come up for sale quite often and I never go to a Swap Meet without seeing at least one Model T for sale. But let me tell you about this model T, ecause it has been on one heck of a journey. This is not some old rusty barn find. I am selling this Model T for my good friend who is the third owner. The car is a 1918 model, ut it appears that the motor was changed by the original owner and is a '22. This car's unique history really started in the year 1936 when it was purchased by Bert Stimple. Bert was a published author and really quite a pioneer. Bert was a potato farmer and homesteader near Fairbanks Alaska. Bert arrived in Alaska in 1936 with $3 in his pocket and his "Trusty T" as he called it. This Model T was Bert's best farmhand. He used it to plow fields, ull stumps, eliver potatoes and a number of other farm chores. And on December 31st, 939 with the temperature at 44 degrees below zero, his model T carried Bert and his new Bride away for their honeymoon.

Bert is the author of the book "Fun On The Farm In Alaska". The book was published in 1962. Since this is such a unique car with a unique story a copy of the book will be included at no charge to the new owner of Bert's "Trusty T". This out of print book often sells for hundreds of dollars when you can find one in excellent condition.

Another great part of this story is that if you can locate a copy of the October, 949 National Geographic Magazine, ert was interviewed by National Geographic Society for an article on Alaska. Bert was instrumental in bringing agriculture to the territory of Alaska and this Model T was there every step of the way.

When Bert retired he moved to Conway, rkansas and brought his "Trusty T" with him. My friend purchased the T from Bert in 2001. This car has never had a title in its life, ut a clear bill of sale will be included and the owner still has the bill of sale from Bert as well.

The car starts like a top and runs and drives fine but it would need a complete rebuild to be a dependable driver. The wiring looks worn and should be replaced. Again, t is good enough to start up and run fine, ust not pretty or something to trust for the long haul. The Magneto magnets have been removed and replaced with oil slingers, ransmission bands are new and it has a new battery. The rear axle seals are new with new rear wheel brake shoes. Has a new hand brake lever quadrant and pawl. The generator will not charge. There are a few nuts and bolts that have been replaced along the way while on the farm that reflects a hard working farm truck with a rich history. For an old work hand like this it is in pretty amazing solid condition as far as sheet metal goes. It is all original. The current owner says he even has a few extra parts that will go with the "Trusty T" along with Bert's book.

If you are a collector, hen you need this historic and documented vehicle to be yours. As I said, ou might find another Model T, ut you are NOT going to find one with this kind of story that goes with it. Don't let this great old piece of Americana get away from you.
