UNFINISHED PROJECT CAR!
I have owned this Trooper since 1994, have all records since then. In 21 years, have invested over $30,000 into this vehicle! $40,000 if you include the purchase price!
In 2009 I had American Engine of Salt Lake rebuild the stock Chevy 2.8L engine at a cost of $4000+. They screwed it up royal! They snipped the computer wiring harness, round out the cylinders and left metal shavings in the engine (and tried to tell me they installed a new engine). I did not even make it back up to Park City before the engine seized. I then purchased a Factory Re-built 3.4L V6 Chevy (which is the engine Isuzu was using in all its SUV's/trucks), nd had it installed by G&S Automotive in Heber City. G&S had many issues getting it to start because the computer will not talk to the new engine sensors - because the harness was snipped and never re-wired correctly. G&S tried to bypass the computer by installing a new carburetor, ut the computer will not allow it to crank. What few times they could get it started, he mixture was off and it blew black smoke.
It has been sitting in the lot at G&S since 2010. As you can see from the photos, have done a lot of modification to the body, ncluding cutting off the back and fabricating a new roll cage. It has a 3" lift kit, 2" tires that are still in good shape. The transmission was rebuilt by Tanner in 2008. NEW ENGINE as 0 miles on it! (Car had 230,000 at time of re-build). Spedo had to be replaced in 2008. New carb, ew fuel pump, ew water pump, ew radiator. Other than the finish of the physical body/interior (which I had planned on Rhino-lining), hat will be needed to get this car running will be a new wiring harness and computer and the time to install it.
I am selling at the cost of the new engine to try to re-coup. I have lost interest in the project, hich is sad because I have owned the vehicle for 21 years. I am the second owner, nd it had 110,000 miles when I purchased in 1994. Vehicle has resided in Phoenix, as Vegas, eno and Park City.
Please call for more info (435-659-8994). The vehicle can be viewed in the Impound lot at G&S Automotive in Heber City, tah.
