Description

This 1977 Jaguar XJS was converted from the stock V-12 to a Chevy 350 V8 in approximately 1988. I purchased the car in 1980 and am the 2nd owner. Currently the engine is not running due to gas tank contamination. Engine was in good running condition before it sat for many years. last time it was started was approximately 2002. The engine conversion was professionally done in Dania Florida by a shop that converted dozens of XJS's a year. At which time the Jaguar TWR racing division ground effects. spoiler and wheels (wheels not shown in photo) were installed. Currently the gold BBS wheels. as shown. are on the car. Car has only been driven for a couple of weeks at a time. total amount 2 months worth. in the last 18 yrs. prior to 02. This car was in great condition but moved outside during a winter storm back in 2002 and sat for a couple of years. dulling the paint. While parked the drivers door was damaged by a passing vehicle and the front hood was also damaged when accidentally backed into. The bumper was not harmed. only the hood. The car has never in any major accidents during it's lifetime. As many people do. I planned to someday restore her but time goes by and now I plan to move out of state do not want to have to move her again. Obviously. the car needs a lot TLC. But I feel it would be worth it to the person who desires a very good looking vintage XJS. As you may know. the earlier years of the XJS the body metal gauge was thicker than the more recent models. I have included some pics of her "before" she sat out to give the vision of what she could return to. fairly easily. The major items to fix -- Body: Paint job. body work repair to front of hood. replace drivers door & window. there are a few spots of rust in door jams (shown in pics). Interior: Replace headliner. replace carpet. replace or cover dash (couple of cracks). new seat covers. floor mats. Other: Clean & re-seal gas tank. replace brake lines. rust in floor of truck-under battery holder. Then general overall cleaning. tune-up. oil change and miscellaneous small item cleaning/repair. The V8 is great because you won't have to worry with the expensive Jag engine issues and costly repairs. As I mentioned. the V8 is in great condition. easy to work on. it's like an '85 model. Personally I feel that even in this distressed looking shape my XJS is worth restoration. But that's up to you to decide! The TWR ground effects really make a big difference in appearance. In that conversion the old bumpers were completely removed. I still have the TWR aluminum allow wheels and can send pics of those if anyone where interested in just those wheels. Alternatively. if not for restoration. the parts on this car are worth a fair amount. Again. the ground effect package. the 350V8. the wheels. and then general parts. Hope to find someone with a use for her. If you have questions please send them and I'll do my best to answer. The vehicle is in Royal. Arkansas (Central AR) and would require a flat bed trailer to move.
