Driveability and Performance: This truck fires right up and drives beautifully. period. There are no tics. knocks. rattles or hesitation of any kind from the engine. Acceleration is lively and smooth and there is no winding. slips. or shudder from the transmission. transfer case or diffs. The transfer case shifts between ranges with absolutely no noise and center diff lock selection works perfect. Overall. this truck is a pleasure to drive because of how solid it feels but also because of how plush and confident the suspension is. As a point of reference. I would even say that this truck is as plush as a P38 Range Rover with properly working EAS suspension. Yes. I mean that. Hit some railroad track crossings and tell me what YOU think! While most wouldn’t consider breaking any land speed records in an 88. she is still more aggressive than most 3. 9’s out there and will still push past 90mph on the motorways. AND YES. CRUISE CONTROL WORKS!!! Steering response is immediate and tight. retaining its performance automobile feel. The cabin is quiet and leak free from windows. doors. and sunroof. All windows and sunroof work. doors all lock and open correctly. all power leather seats work correctly. Even more to its credit. the AC works awesome as does the heat! All blinkers. lights. hazards. horns. safety belts work as they should. Aesthetics and Coachwork: The Chamonix White exterior paint is not only rare. but in excellent condition. It is touchably smooth and there is no oxidation. flake or peel. The Pembroke Grey leather is equally as rare and in incredible shape. There are no rips or tears in the leather – it merely resembles the broken in suppleness of your favorite baseball glove with the most wear to be expected from the driver’s seat. It’s quite remarkable to talk about how SOFT the leather is. Typically. any “Pembroke” interior is neglected and shabby: Seats torn and destroyed. carpeting brittle and faded. You won’t believe how comfortable the leather is – all the way around – and how factory fresh the carpeting appears and feels. The Range Rover embroidery on the rugs is clean and tight. The center console is PERFECT. The loadspace interior is in dazzlingly clean condition and also retains the injection moulded PVC Range Rover branded loadspace gear tray. All original warning and safety stickers are in remarkably like-new condition. You just DON’T see this anymore. Please note the detailed picture of the leather stitching: it’s 2-tone White/Pembroke is gorgeous! Further. being a garaged truck it is remarkably wear free from the elements with no rust in wells. jambs. bulkhead. pans. upper tailgate. etc. As a point of reference. the brake line union fittings are factory clean – I say this because they are located in an area totally voulnurable to road-grime and dirt and almost any Classic will exhibit fatigue here. Not so on this truck! If there are any faults to be found on the finish of the truck its seen in the pictures of the lower rear tail gate – a parking lot variety impression close to the end of the badge “Rover. as well as on the RH side forward hood cowl. The wonderful thing about and white Rover is that it hides this type of blemish quite satisfactorily without needing paint and body. in my opinion. …and by the way. did I forget to mention that the ORIGINAL Range Rover radio is intact and works great?!!! Quality and Character: Few other Classics evoke the feel of true Range Rover Heritage. It is as close as you will get to experiencing the original 2-Door DNA. The 88’s had the most refined version of the original interior – something lost from 89 models onward. The original woodwork is fantastically dark and satin smooth. And I’ve got to say. with auto door locks working perfect and the original AC overhauled. this Classic is by far one of my favorites. I KNOW it will put a smile on your face EVERY time you drive it. Additionally. It stops with tons of stopping power and you don’t have to worry about the issues which plague ABS Classics. To restore or not to restore? That is always the question! This truck is a FANTASTIC survivor and would fit great right next to the best of the line-up at any event or club function. Personally. every vehicle has a story to tell. and in the amazing condition it’s in for the vintage. I would absolutely leave it as she is. She is not a museum piece – meaning not a frame-off/factory literature example – but as frozen in time as a used vehicle can be? YES! As most of you probably know. the early NAS RRC’s – of which this is one – had a cable driven instrument cluster. This one works perfect. including the odometer. And mileage is verifiable via Carfax or similar. Purchasing. Perspective & Why Buy From Me: No one puts a Land Rover or Range Rover together better than me. PERIOD. It’s the vehicle I drive. and the vehicle I RACE. Nearly two decades of Rover ownership and service are poured into every truck that has ever made its way into new hands.
