Description
1968 Lincoln Continental Mark III. Engine and transmission have been completely rebuilt by professionals. Engine overhaul was $1410.00, ransmission cost was $846.29. Includes new torque convertor and flywheel. Has new starter, lternator, il sending unit, emperature sending unit, uel pump, elts and hoses. Had water pump rebuilt through O'Reilly Auto Parts because I could not locate a new one. New 600CFM Edelbrock carburetor, ll new parts for tune up, ilters lubricants, ils and fluids. New ignition coil, ront and rear brakes, istributor, ender mount starter solenoid. Vacuum hoses, aster cylinder, ew radiator, ew heavy duty battery, adiator cap, eater core (radiator), eadlight dimmer switch, our new tires with about ten miles on them. New power steering pump, he expensive one that mounts on crank shaft. Previous owner said that they had just replaced the old gas tank with a new one. All lights did work when last checked, s did the power windows. I have not driven it enough to find out if the cruise control works or not. I did not have the air conditioner recharged and do not know if it works. Not sure about power seats, ower locks did work. Mileage shows 68,065. Engine and transmission were rebuilt when I bought it, ileage was 67,742, itle has 69,742, hich is a misprint. I have put a total of slightly over 300 miles on it since I had all the work done. I have not even put the new metal license plates on the car. Car runs great, ransmission works great. I believe the starter needs shimmed or replaced. It turns over hard and strains the battery. I drove the car to have new tires put on about a month ago. After they were replaced and I restarted the car, t turned over very slowly as if the battery were dead. I had another Lincoln Mark Series and had to have the starter shimmed on it. The guy told me it is pretty common on these cars. The starter has a lifetime warranty on it through Auto Zone. No problem to claim a new one there if necessary. I would have the starter shimmed or repaired before driving it very far. I will try and have a local mechanic check it and see what it needs. No promises. As I said, he car runs great, lenty of power. I would drive it anywhere....once the starter is fixed. The body is a different issue. The trunk deck is in very bad shape. Lots of rust. The hood and upper passenger fender have surface rust. The rear quarter panels have rust. The front fenders are pretty good as far as I can tell. The head liner looks to be in good condition. The seats are usable, ut not great. I have not cleaned the car out because I was going to have it reupholstered and the body work done. I can find no one local that has the time or inclination to do the work. I am planning on moving in the near future and can't take all of my vehicles with me. You are welcome to come look at the car. Please just let me know ahead of time. The opera windows, hich were on the later Mark series, as been added somewhere along the line. Not by me. I removed the vinyl top and chrome around the windows in preparation of the body work. The trim is inside the car. There are some rusted out places where the top was that will need to be repaired. The passenger door panel is broken, ut I do have it. While the car was being worked on during overhauls, eople would come and look inside constantly. Someone managed to break the small spring inside the door that operates the lock. The repair guy would not agree to fix it or pay to have it fixed. I replaced the spring and when replacing the panel, t broke. It is made of plastic and not very sturdy. The driver door panel is not perfect either. I'm sure that if you look hard enough that you could find other things that need attention but I have tried to list the things that I feel are important. The tires and wheels in the trunk do not go with this sale. Car is sold as is with no warranties. I have nearly $8000.00 in the car with repairs. There is a non refundable deposit of $500.00 due within 48 hours of auction end. The balance due in cash on pick up of the car. Ask questions or come see it before bidding.
