Description

Update 2/13: I need this car gone in the next week or else I'm just going to keep it. Im lowering price below what it's worth. Let me know if you've got questions.
This 1985 Mercedes Benz 300D has been my daily driver since 2008. My wife and I have enjoyed these cars so much! This is one of four that my wife and I have driven and fixed up. We are selling this one because we are running out of driveway space (with two other classic Mercedes that need more work than this one) and the Navy is relocating me to the west coast and I don't feel like paying a friend to help me drive this all the way there.
One of the most well known cars in the world, he 300D was the quintessential family sedan from its inception in the late 1970's. They were over-engineered and last hundred of thousands, f not a million miles. This one is exceptional. I have done a complete work through of the entire car, hich is referenced in the picture of the Excel spreadsheet maintenance tracker. Although the mileage is at almost 229k, ny professional diesel mechanic would tell you that with all the preventative work that I've done, his car will outlast most brand new gas burning cars on showroom floors today! For a fraction of the cost of a new car, ou get to cruise around in a classic Mercedes at 26-27 miles per gallon while feeling safe in this full, eavy gauge steel body that has no rust anywhere.
Here are just some highlights of maintenance items completed:

-Compression test in 2009: all 5 cylinders greater than 300psi (excellent)
-New Timing Chain and Tensioner
-New Valve Stem Seals
-New Front Crank Seal
-Turbo completely rebuilt with new seals
-All gaskets and O-rings in engine compartment ---This car DOES NOT LEAK ANY OIL!!! Try to find one of these for this price that you can park confidently on a clean driveway.
-Oil filter housing to engine gasket replaced as well--not fun but you don't have to do it for another 15+ years!
-All fluids/filters replaced regularly
-All new rubber components throughout entire drivetrain
-All new joints/bearings for entire steering and suspension system
-Rebuilt front brake calipers, ew master cylinder, ew brakelines and fluid flush/bleed in September 2015-Blocked EGR valve (more power and nothing to clog your intake and turbo up, am providing the cleaned part in case you need to comply with local inspections or whatever)
-Electric Boost Pump installed at fuel tank outlet for added low-end power and easy fuel system bleeding after routine maintenance like filter changing & purging

-New Paint in 2009 (shows some light sun damage now that would probably buff out)
-A/C converted to R-134 with new compressor in 2010 (needs a recharge and new drier but works)
-Rear seat reupholstered and front seats re-stuffed in 2012
-New front windshield
-New front and rear windshield seals and all 4 doors and trunk seals all new in 2011
-Tires have >90% life since I was deployed for half of this last year-Sunroof completely resealed using Mercedessource kit in 2010 with new fiber gear in motor housing. Works 4.0
-JVC CD player has Aux input on the face and works fine. The speakers are premium and it has excellent sound in the generally quiet and well-insulated cabin.

There is much more that has been done but you get the idea.I have a whole binder of receipts that reflect all the work annotated in the Excel tracker picture. I am amilitary helicopter pilot and treatmy approach to maintenance of these cars the same way I learned to treatmaintenance ofhelicopters. If you take careof it, t takes care of you. I can provide more info if you like but you really won't appreciate it unless you buy it. With this modest price, ou can drive a car that has such a large amount of preventative maintenance done, ll you need to do is the routine garage mechanic stuff like filters/fluids/cleanliness and you'll drive it for another 300,000 miles!
The few insignificant projects I haven't gotten to:

-The heat works but on really cold days (below 30F) the climate control inexplicably cycles between hot air and lukewarm air. The cabin still stays plenty warm but I would fix it if I had time. Most likely needs a mono valve cleaning or replacement.
-Vacuum doorlocks have been disconnected. All the parts are there, ust needs troubleshooting which takes some time dedicated that I don't have. Manual works 4.0
-The cruise control is inoperative which is probably a bad amplifier.
-The trunk light doesn 't work. Probably a ground back there since new bulbs don't solve it.
You WILL NOT regret buying this car....but I regret doing all that work and then selling it!

Shipping is available with your arrangements, oordination, nd payment. Meaning, 'll answer my phone and be available to hand the keys to the shipping driver when they come to pick it up.
This thing is worth more than I'm asking. Don't lowball me, 'll just say no and you'll have wasted my time and yours.
Thanks and have a good one!
