The Classic Car Gallery is proud to offer this gorgeous 1971 MERCEDES BENZ 280SL. This is a 3 owner car with full and extensive documentation from the mid 80s!!! The second and third owners were commercial pilots the last of whom owned the car for the last 35 years. Extensive records show the car to be well maintained and refreshed over the years. The records show an engine rebuild in 1987 and she has been driven only 5000 miles since. The engine has good power and torque; she runs beautifully. The SIGNAL RED PAINT is excellent with deep shine and good luster (the car has been repainted). The PARCHMENT LEATHER interior is in restored condition and shows well. The car runs and drives as she should and the transmission shifts with authority. The AC system was just recharged and blows cold. The suspension has been well maintained as have the brakes; the tires are new. The white convertible top is in excellent condition as is the restored red hardtop. All body panels are original to the car. The hood trunk and convertible top hood bare all of the correct serial numbers and weld marks. She comes with her original books and tools. We believe the mileage to be 120000. This is a gorgeous well sorted car that needs nothing except a discerning new owner.
