In automotive history, few cars bring strong emotions every time someone sees them. One of those in my opinion is the Mercedes Benz W123 wagon.
Combine German reliability, afety innovations, conomy, port handling, tilitarian interior and features with an elegant and tasteful and now timeless Italian design (yes I said Italian, s Bruno Sacco was head of Mercedes design during the W123 development) and you have the iconic Mercedes diesel wagon, he W123 300TD.
My 1982 featured in this auction was purchased and restored for a particular purpose, project which has now been cancelled and this is what has me considering selling this car. Located in Miami Florida
While I wasn't trying to win any shows, henever I do drive this car in the US, get compliments daily, ven yelled by passing bicyclists or drivers across lanes of traffic.
I am not a mechanic but I have owned many German diesels and will attempt to describe everything to be best of my ability. No 33 year old car is perfect and if you are seriously considering buying one of these one of the most important questions is what has been replaced. These can basically be completely rebuilt due to the strength of the components but if you are looking at an all original or unmaintained vehicle you are in for a long road.
NEW or replaced in the last year or so.
Rebuilt crankcase.
New head gasket from MB of Miami.
All new brakes and calipers.
Suspension including air and front shocks.
Wheels repacked 2 years ago.
AC, lthough it is still not good enough for 95 degrees in the US.
Radiator and fans and belts.
New wiper arms and blades.
Many many more important mechanical upgrades and repairs
5 nearly new tires.
New windshield seal.
No known engine leaks.
Runs very smoothly and uses little fuel.
Steering, rakes and suspension ride like a new car.
Needs attention
One speaker wire is buzzing sometimes, nd the bluetooth mic doesnt work well at all.
Spedo, ach and fuel guage are frozen.
Dash cover should go, ut dash under is cracked.
Wood is cracked.
Some water leak in a car wash right rear window.
Exterior windows seals and chrome old and show it.
Needs the touch of a good body man and perhaps new strikers as some doors need to be slammed.
A little rust bubble spots although when it was painted last year any rust was removed, ncluding some on floorboards which was completely repaired.
Sunroof latch is lose.
May need additional valve adjustment eventually as one still has that hammer tap sound in addition to the normal dieseling.

Additional details: New Steering Box. New upgraded alternator from S Class. New OEM battery. Head gasket was by MB of Ft Lauderdale (MB Miami did the repair originally and it was redone at MB Ft Lauderdale) Odometer frozen again after repair last year, elieved to be accurate +/- 100 miles frozen. Other details as I remember them.

I just ordered a working odometer which I will include with the sale (uninstalled). Also, he head light bezels are brand new a few months ago. The plastic around the lights which normally yellows out is new and crystal clear, ee pics.
