You could be the proud owner of a 1961 Mercury Comet. Yes... this is the one you have been searching for!!! This car has a theoretical top speed of 88 miles per hour! It has the nearly 170 cubic inch (101 horse power!) inline six cylinder engine with a three speed transmission and the infamous "three on the tree" shifter. This is very handy during modern times as it will not allow you to text or put your arm around your girlfriend while driving. This could be a life saving feature! Today only (tomorrow or next month if necessary) this fine running driving automobile (with a straight body) can be yours for the low, ow price of (asking) $2,900 dollars. But don't delay wait or hesitate as once the word gets out about the availability of this rare, xtremely valuable potentially "life saving" vehicle it won't last long.
The engine has been rebuilt not too many miles back, t runs good, o smoke. The placard from the rebuilder is still on the side of the block. I rebuilt the carb and master cylinder. It has new wheel cylinders, new fuel/vacuum pump, ew fuel filter, ew air filter, ew ignition switch, nd a new battery. All the glass is clear and has no cracks. The tail light lenses are new. The gas tank has been taken out and flushed. The speedometer and odometer work, ut I don't remember what the mileage says, nd I'm at work right now. I don't think the odometer is that important for this thing anyway.Sometime back before the current paint job, he left quarter panel was repaired. It looks okay from a distance, ut if you want to make the car shiny, t's gonna need a little work there.
The original radio is in the trunk, ith a few other parts like the interior door panels, nd the right side fender trim piece. The bumpers are straight, nd the grill is nice. I will help arrange to transport the car, s needed. I will not pay to transport it, r assume liability of your choice of transporter. In 1960 and 1961, he Comet was its own brand. The Comet was supposed to be an Edsel, ut Edsel went under in 1959, nd the Comet survived as its own brand. Search for "Edsel Comet", nd you'll see what I mean. They were not owned by Mercury until the 1962 model year. You will not see "Mercury" anywhere on this car, ut due to some sort of complication, t is titled as a Mercury.
I have the title, t's signed and notarized.
