Description

I'm selling this Southern California MGB for a friend of mine whose husband recently passed away. He was a retired 2 Star General and Test Pilot in the United States Air Force and had a major thing for MGB's. This is the second to last one out of seven he had in his collection when he passed away from an aggressive form of cancer. It comes with a folder full of receipts at least an inch thick going back to 1982. A prior owner had it from 1983 until 1993 and the General had it (and then his widow) from 1993 until now.
The body is in excellent, ust free condition. It sat inside a garage in the mild climate of desert Southern Utah for most of the last 23 years (the General retired here after his last command at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, A). It is covered in old white primer. After some mild prep work the body is ready to be resprayed. The only flaw I've found is a several inch tear in the passenger floorboard where it appears a jack slipped. It's not structural and can be easily fixed (see pics). I also have some exterior trim pieces available separately if you are interested.
The interior is in great condition. Dash has been tastefully modded (no cutting or butchery - see pics) and has a custom center console with aftermarket switches. Fuel, il pressure, acuum pressure, nd amp gauges work as do the wipers. The roll bar is a cool addition. Carpeting and seat upholstery are new. Lights and some switches need to be wired up. I also have some interior trim pieces available separately.
The running gear appears to be largely rebuilt based on the very substantial ($10K+) receipt history. And the engine compartment is simply stunning (see pics). It starts right up, ccelerates, hifts nicely and is a pleasure to drive around the neighborhood. Brakes seem weak but perhaps all early MGB's are that way. I know they switched over to power brakes a few years later.
All this MGB needs is paint and detail work to complete. It was being cosmetically and mechanically restored to a high standard before the project ground to a halt. I hope it finds a home with someone who realizes how much money can be saved by completing a project like this versus starting fresh with a rough, nrestored MGB. Just my two cents.
My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have about 200 pictures that show every nook and cranny in great detail (including tons of the undercarriage). Text or send me your email address and I'll get them to you. This great 1969 MGB convertibleis located in the dry, esert community of St. George, tah(a little over 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Good luck and good bidding.
