Description

The Telegraph newspaper recently listed the Factory MGBGT V8 as the most desirable MG ever produced. I have owned this car since 2006 and I agree. The factory Rover 3. 5 liter V8 completely transforms the MGBGT from a period sports coupe to a full-fledged modern car. Effortless acceleration. quiet high-speed cruising and crisp MGB handling make this car an extremely desirable MG to own and drive. Since 2006 I have methodically gone through the car making it as close to problem free as can be achieved with an MG. The engine was rebuilt 12. 00 miles ago at no expense including new pistons. clutch. valves. water pump. oil pump. cam. lifters. rockers and rocker shafts. among other items. This car has exceptional oil pressure both at speed and idle. and it doesn't burn any oil between changes. Also. how many MGs can attest to leaving absolutely no oil stains when parked? This car is oil leak free. Also. the V8 has a reputation for running hot. this car has a recored radiator and original electric cooling fans. it does not overheat. During the engine rebuild. the gearbox layshaft and syncho rings were inspected for wear. none found. Overdrive works as intended. The body is rust free. and the chrome is nearly perfect. The V8 wheels. which are known to rust. were rechromed and are immaculate. The seats were retrimmed in the original style navy blue fabric. The only MGBGTs I've seen in better condition than this one were complete nut-and-bolt restorations that are trailered to car shows. this car is a daily driver. which attests to its reliable running state. Factory V8s are rare this side of the Atlantic. probably less than a couple dozen have been imported from England to the USA. Total production was around 2. 00 cars. so it isn't all that common in England either. If you collect cars. this model is on the short list of collectable MGs.
