Im offering my 1930 Franklin 5 passenger Transcontinent sedan. This car has had 55 year ownership by one man that bought the car in 1960 in Seneca Falls NY for $350.00. He drove the car home and used it for a collector car over the years. About 5 years ag, the car was painted and had a new top and interior installed. The bumpers and lights were newly chrome plated. This past summer he asked me to buy the car as his health is bad and was no longer able to use it. He was a past member of the H.H. Franklin Clu, AACA and the Genesee Valley Antique car clu, where the car was shown with pride. The motor has had the babbit rod bearings replaced and the crank journals were ground. New piston rings were installed at this time. The car runs excellent with plenty of power. In 1930 the Franklin was rated at 87 HP. Franklins were considered high end cars with 14 inch hydraulic brake, ery light nimble steering and speeds to 70 mph. Ive owned many Franklins and they are great road cars.
This car is painted Sping yellow body with classic black fenders. The top is long grain vinyl. It has the proper rain gutters on the top. Inside the interior looks new. All the interior handles are original to the car and complete. The rear view mirror has gold plate on i, correct from the factory. The gauges are all complete including the Jaeger Clock. The car has a smooth 3 speed transmission.
The underside has been cleaned and painted black at some time. The exhaust is in good condition . The wood in the car is sound and tight. The doors close tight without dropping or dragging. The fenders and body tin are clean with no apparent damage ever. The fender beads are nice...not showing any usual welding or banged up. The glass is all goo, indows roll up and down well. The tires on the ground match and in great condition.
There is a new spare not shown that is included in the sale. Under the seat is the hand crank, wheel expander for the split rims and thehubcap wrench.
All in all this car has had a easy life. The second owner I bought the car from told me he got it from the first owners family. I have a transferable NYS registration . The car is in Livonia NY . Call Mike with questions at 585 738 1541 or email me at mawest at gmail.com. Thank you!
