Description

Newly restored 1953 Kaiser Manhattan. This is a period correct ground up restoration( with the exception of the fabric inserts on the seats. ) The 226 cu. in. L head 6 engine had been rebuilt and painted incorrect blue at some point. The motor runs smooth and quiet. does NOT burn oil or smoke. The odometer reads 64. 28 miles which means nothing to me since I didn't know the original owner. I used correct reproduction o. e. m plug wires and cloth covered replacement wires as needed. The Kaiser drives and shifts well with its 3 speed on column/ overdrive Borg Warner transmission. The brakes have been rebuilt including all wheel cylinders. new master. shoes. flex lines and steel lines. Rear differential flushed. Radiator pressure tested. This straight. rust free Kaiser is painted with correct single stage urethane enamel and cut/buffed to a nice driver-show quality. Before painting the front splash pan and radiator assembly was removed and refinished for a proper job. The interior has been removed and all original vinyl re dyed. The original interior metallic coral red paint is in really nice shape. The engine was re painted in the factory color of metallic green. All bumper components. rear fins and tail light bezels have been re-chromed. The door handles. hood ornament and headlight bezels have minor pitting. Interior chrome is really nice. 7 of the 10 wide stainless rub rails have been replaced with rare new/old stock pieces. Original reproduction aluminum door sill plates. door/ trunk weather stripping. rubber parts etc. jack restored. All screws and removed hardware cleaned if re-used. New Coker wide white walls. new hoses. belts. water pump. thermostat. temp. sensor. coil. relay. correct copper plugs. terminal bar. New tail light lenses and hood emblem. Rear plastic trunk emblem repaired. Kaiser and Manhattan chrome script emblems in great condition. Fresh heavy duty 6 volt battery. Front/rear windshields removed before painting. new seals installed. This beautiful Kaiser was not restored with the intention of selling her and a lot of care went into the restoration with much research done to maintain originality and a period correct look. Driving this elegant time capsule transports you back to a different age and while you wont win many races. it has the ability to keep up with modern city traffic. While sold as a radio delete car. I installed but didn't connect the Kaiser radio as I didn't want to drill a hole in the fender for an antenna. I will include the chrome delete plate with the car as well as NOS rear shocks in original boxes and other items including factory manuals and much literature. In the 4 months since its completion. I have shown the Kaiser locally 3 times and have won an award each time with a steady stream of compliments and genuine interest due to its rarity. Since its completion. I have driven the car less than 100 miles. The only negative issue I can think of is a slow transmission seal drip otherwise everything works fine.
