Hudson wowed the public with its all-new "step-down" 1948 models which continued nearly unchanged into 1949. The cars featured a box perimeter frame with the floor pan attached at the bottom so that passengers actually stepped down to enter. As a result its center of gravity was low and handling was excellent.
This lovely Hudson Commodore Convertible was restored about 10 years ago. Handsomely painted in Matador Maroon it has a black Haartz cloth top and maroon leatherette upholstery. The mileage showing is just over 54000 and is believed correct. It hasa power top power windows a windshield visor a Hudson radio and heater an electric clock and a Hudson tissue dispenser. Hudson built fewer than 600 Commodore Eight convertible broughams for 1949. This car is a lovely example of that rare model possessed of Hudson's excellent handling and the time-honored eight-cylinder engine. Many original invoices and paperwork evidencing the history of this beauty.
