Yes, it's real and documented. Yes, it's numbers-matching. Yes, it's a nice survivor. Yes, we are just as excited about this one as you are. A real-deal 1970 Plymouth Superbird in arguably the best color around is an opportunity you may never see again.Call this one Hemi Orange and you'd be wrong. Plymouth fans know EV2 as Tor Red. But it's no matter because this iconic color out of the High Impact pallet is original to the car. Yes, that's the level of originality we are dealing with on this ultra rare Superbird. For the few that don't understand its significance, just know that the Superbird is a one-year only special edition that was literally a racecar sold to the public. Plymouth improved on its sibling, the Dodge Charger Daytona, to build an aerodynamic car that would dominate NASCAR. Though while the long steel front end and tall spoiler seemed like track-only pieces, NASCAR rules meant that Plymouth would need to build at least 1920 examples for the road (total was around 1980 with far fewer survivors today,) and this is one of those examples in highly original condition. So take some time to look over this coupe, because everything you see is there for a reason. The distinct pointed nose is fitted just as the factory would; the paint looks amazing considering it left the Lynch Road plant before most people reading this were born; and the sheetmetal is amazingly straight. This is all a small miracle that this racecar for the road never met any problems during its 80,877 miles (believed to be actual.) In fact, all the details are correct, too, including the hood pins, vinyl roof, Roar Runner cartoon graphics, and the original Rallye wheel package.Open the door, and you will see one of the nicest preserved muscle car interiors around. In fact, the largest modification inside is Richard Petty's signature! This is a high trim grade bench seat car, which seems like the perfect way to pay tribute to the Road Runner's budget-friendly nature while still being reminded that this is the top-of-the-line Plymouth. The black vinyl with light trim matches nicely with the door panels, and the black carpets and dash remain in excellent condition. There's the original Road Runner cartoon emblem in the center of the original three-spoke steering wheel, but you know this is no kid's show. The original full gauge panel still includes the tach/clock combo next to the large speedo. Plus the fire extinguisher that sits next to the iconic pistol grip shifter tells you this is one serious muscle machine.Every time you pop the hood, you're heart will beat a little faster. The bright block of the 440 cubic-inch Super Commando motor matches the fenders in this amazingly clean engine bay. The monster motor looks like it belonged here since day one, because it has. This numbers-matching V8 has been well looked after over the years to keep it both a great runner and highly original. So while the starter, fuel pump, and four-barrel carburetor have all been replaced, the factory components come with the sale. The valve seats have even been hardened so you can utilize modern pump gas, and there's an electric fan to make sure this classic stays cool. The big block fires up with the kind of roar that reminds you this is a racecar you can hang a license plate on. The A833 four-speed manual is also believed to be original to the car, and this is exactly what you want to have complete control over this NASCAR hero. Add in power steering, limited slip rear end, and front disc brakes, and it's easy to handle this wild rare bird. This is a numbers-matching, highly documented survivor that comes with the factory buildsheet, title docs, owner's manual, and Galen Govier Documentation. So while the legend is that the Superbirds were created to lure Richard Petty back to Plymouth, we don't have to tell you anymore to lure you into our showroom. The only problem will be if you're not quick enough to grab this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Call now!!
