The dictionary says that the word Tempest means, a violent commotion, isturbance, r tumult." Well this sinister looking RestoMod Tempest custom fits that bill. However I would not call it violent as this car is smooth, oth in looks andperformance. It was restored right at 12,000 miles ago spending it's reborn life in sunny Southern California where we purchased it. You have to admire the restorer of this car to refrain from just making another GTO clone. Not that there is anything wrong with a GTO clone done right but lets give some love to one of the coolest name plates on a car of the sixties. The body is solid with a beautiful Intense Indigo hue over a nice west cost body. The paint is not totally flawless but still shows very well with an excellent shine. It is accented with nice trim, hrome, nd tinted glass. Look closely and you will see the original Tempest exclusive upper molding that runs the length of the body. It was painted over, hen pin striped for a more stealth look. The stance of this car is awesome but can easily be lowered or raised to your taste withthe push of a button, ctivating the air ride suspension. The controls arelocated in the glove box so they are easily accessible. The heart of a Trans Am lurks under the hood with a 1987 LT1 350 V-8 mated to a 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission that delivers the power to a posi-track rear end filled with 3:55gears. It fires right up with the multiport fuel injection andcreates smooth power andterrific cruising. A front runner system fromMarch was employed to cut down noise, ibration, nd harshness. It sure does perform well and looks great with all the polished hardware.Power 4 wheel disc brakes bring it to a halt for sure footed driving. The custom stitched interior features one offseat cover anddoor panel fabrics. The headliner is niceand a matching full set of seat belts were installed. The original dash was filled with Dakota digital gauges. A tilt column has a custom steering wheel attached with a smaller diameter wood veneer finish. Vintage AC/Heat keeps you comfortable and power operated front windows come in handy. The trunk is nice with matching carpet in lieu of a plaid vinyl mat.
