Description

Up for sale is my prized possessio, my 1987 Porsche 928S4 (VIN #WP0JB0923HS860171). It is an early production model (equipped with a four speed automatic transmission) that features the lift up rear spoiler, the temperature controlled front air louvers and the oil spray on the piston skirts. I purchased this car in August 2003 from a fanatic who had redone everything in the car (new paint with the original polar white, new OEM carpeting throughout and completely re-dyed all the leather in the interior (champagne). The body was straight with no noticeable dings. I paid $11,500 for the car at the time with the odometer showing 105000 miles. Over the last 13 years I have added 9000 miles and invested an additional $20,000+ into the car for various repairs and maintenance. I am asking $18,500 for the car which I believe is a fair price for an appreciating well maintained example.

The car was originally maintained by Dusty at 911 Enterprises for the first few years until he retired. For the last 6 years it was been serviced exclusively by Sean Ratts ( DFW's local 928 guru). Sean would be able to provide an unbiased report on the vehicle's condition. It is one of the finest examples of the 928S4 model in the Dallas area. The list of items serviced would dwarf this page but the more important items are:

1. New timing belt and water pump (less than 500 miles ago)

2. New tie rods and Delrin bushings (for the steering rack), correct alignment

3. New front tires

4 Top end engine rebuild (new rubber hoses, vacuum tubing, pressurized fuel lines, etc.)

5 Rebuilt LH hybrid controller

6 New odometer mechanism

7 New battery

8 New tail light lenses (original one were showing signs of cracking)

9 Numerous gaskets to eliminate oil leaks

10 New air intake gaskets along with repainted intake manifold

11 AC system modified to R134 with recent servicing to detect and fix leaks (system blows cold)

12 New hood pad

13 Refinished front bumper cover to remove stone chips

The car is unique in that it has always been garaged with absolutely no signs of cracks in the dashboard or in the instrument pod. All the body panels are straight and have the correct VIN labels. There is no whine from the universal on the drive train and little measurable wear on the engine's thrust bearing. Included with the vehicle are a full set of factory shop manuals, a box full of spare parts and full documentation on repairs.

The only things that need attention on the car are 1. the sunroof (the motor I suspect. I never used the sunroof so I never had it serviced). And 2. the Blaupunkt radio has a loose connection to the drivers side front speakers

My reason for the sale is due to health reasons. I can no longer drive the car. The time has come to place the vehicle with someone who can continue to maintain it properly. Prospective bidders are encouraged to perform their own inspection.
