Description

This 1963 Studebaker Daytona Convertible has been lightly modified and is a real sweet ride. A California car from new this car has been tastefully modified from original.

The original 259 cubic inch V8 motor has been replaced with a 289 cubic inch V8 with factory Supercharger from a 1957 / 1958 Golden Hawk. This is coupled to a late model rebuilt automatic transmission. The performance is not fantastic as this car really gets up and motors. Installing the Golden Hawk motor made it necessary to install the Golden Hawk hood scoop.

Repainted in Regal Red with matching real leather interior. Disc brakes and a rear sway bar have been added to improve handling.

If you want a super fun car to drive around that has some great options, then this is an ideal candidate worthy of your consideration.

I am selling this car on behalf of a friend of mine. See my other listings for other Studebaker's from this private collection.

This has been very nicely restored 5 to 10 years ago and has been set up for driving and to give you years of trouble free motoring.

Factory options include :-

  • V8
  • Power Steering
  • Layback Seats
  • Tinted Glass
  • Climitizer - under floor heater.
  • Radio

Modifications include :-

  • Replacement Supercharged motor from a 1957 or 1958 Golden Hawk
  • Turner disc Brakes replacing the front drums.
  • Dave Theibault Rear Sway Bar
  • Aftermarket Alternator replaces the original alternator
  • American Racing imitation Halibrand Kidney bean Mag wheels

New Exhaust and Shock absorbers. Rebuilt Front End. Tires are all excellent.

The motor is strong and gets excellent oil pressure when warm. It shifts directly and beautifully with the automatic transmission.

Interior wise the car has been beautifully re-trimmed in genuine black and brown leather with red piping giving a striking look. Carpets and convertible top have been replaced. The dash pad has been modified from the original with the addition of a black capping piece to match the rest of the interior. Currently a brand new set of power top motor, hydraulic hoses and rams are on order and will be supplied with the car.

The car is virtually 99% rust free with the only evidence of rust repair being about a 4inch square patch on the drivers side front foot well.

The previous long term San Francisco owner of this car had 15 Studebaker's in his collection, all of which are similar to this car. All cars had nice options, re-trimmed interiors, recognized Studebaker upgrades and had a ton of money piled into them mechanically.

You certainly could not restore one for the money asked to get anywhere near the quality of this vehicle. It is a great car to drive and attracts a lot of attention.
