Up for bids is this sharp 1978 Toyota FJ40. Bought new in Vancouver Washington this FJ has stayed local for 37 years with just 2 owners. 93K original miles and marked as such on the title. This FJ has been restored only as needed it's primarily original runs great and is ready to roll. The car has had one repaint in its original color of 'Rustic Green' code 621. The paint was done to driver quality standards a hard polish could bring the shine up a level but as it sits the finish is in line with its utilitarian roots. Tires are brand new BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A's in 31X10.5. Wheels are original and show some age the rear mounted spare is mounted on a new rim.
New Hell-For-Stout front bumper carries a restored Warn 8274 winch with remote. The rear hitch rack carries a new Wavian fuel can.
The classic Warn 8274 winch has been meticulously restored and has a 1980 date code.
Fold away hitch rack allows easy access to the rear compartment.
The hitch rack locks securely to the 2" receiver. A soft door set is included the hard doors remove with 7 bolts the top comes off with 18 bolts. Shown in the photo of the soft doors is a bike rack that mounts below the fuel can. Windshield has been replaced and is crystal clear the remainder of the glass shows some light wear.
Pretty clean visuals throughout this FJ underneath the arrow is the stock radio antenna. Side vents allow a nice amount of airflow through the cab especially when the back window vents are open.
The interior is in super condition the seats show no wear and the stock floor mat is in great shape.
New door weatherstripping windows wind smoothly locks all work.
All gauges work correctly and show good stable readings. Every pull knob works correctly as well as the lights blinkers horn wipers etc. Even the seat belt buzzer works. No electrical gremlins to chase down.
Clean and stock rear compartment with optional rear heater. Has seatbelts for 4 passengers.
The stock 6 cylinder 4.2L 2F engine runs beautifully. This FJ starts instantly and runs out great providing a good amount of power and a nice balanced idle. No smoke or hesistation it's recently been tuned up and simply purrs. Upgraded with headers and a Holley carb with manual choke. Toolbox contains jacking equipment and a fill spout for the Wavian can. The car runs cool shows great oil pressure and shifts through the gears smoothly.
Some evidence underneath of previous patching but no sign of accident damage. New shocks and steering stabilizer. 2.5" exhaust through a Magnaflow muffler. Dialed in and ready to hit the road.
