Hello fellow low budget/highadrenalinemotorsports enthusiast,
up for grabs is this 1986 MK1 MR2, A-GE engine naturally aspirated, 61k, spd, ut it needs a new engine.
I bought this in it's current non-running state to build a Rallycross beater champ out of it, ut am now selling it after losing my job & moving. I've been a 80's Toyota enthusiasts for 10+ years, nd totally hate to get rid of this potentially super fun car. The planwas to build a new motor for it out of spare parts form my other Toyota collections (not included, ut if you're interested in 4A-GE 20valving this baby, may have plenty of parts for sale, eparately of course).
The engine is seized after the oil drain plug came lose on the previous owner while driving. I bought the car in its current non-driving condition which means I've never driven this car. Here's what I can tell you about the condition:
- the engine is def. seized, hich means probably toast as far as all bottom end internals- undercarriage is somewhat rusty but not terrible, othing structuralframe compromising as far as my inspection went, ut a 6" hole rusted whole into passenger floorboard covered by the carpet- the rear fenders show typical MKI rust spots with the RR rear mudflap/rear bumper section completely rusted away ( if you cared enough though, ou can buy the sheet metal replacements panels for these cars since they all have this problem to some degree and I'd be happy to tell you where at)- the front bolt on air dam is rusted and damaged, owever if unbolted the main chassis in this area remains rust free as opposed to the rear fenders- the car's paint is... well, gain, was going to build a rally cross beater out of it.
here's some good stuff I've noticed:- the interior besides needing a good vacuuming is actually in very nice condition, icer than my other Toyotas (no stereo though)- no cracked windows/windshield, indows roll up and down nicely, unroof seals properly and functions well/can be taken out and storedunderneaththe hood- no rust in trunk/frunk areas such as corner structural nodes that tend to rust out from sitting water/leaves- previous owner had installed poly bushings in front and assured me steering was tight- coolant within cooling system looks good, ull to the brim after sitting for months so no leaks- no sign of any hackage, igging, r janking the car up. everything is factory.- previous owner was driving it without any problems he claims till the oil drain plug incident killed it off and he simply didn't have the means to fix this baby.- frunk loaded with good looking spare & factory jack!
