The previous owner purchased the car from in St Louis during 2012 for $25. 00. He then replaced the red lines with new Michelins. new interior and top installed at Riggs Brothers. He also installed “Fat Mat” to the interior lower firewall. floor and transmission tunnel for heat and sound deadening. We acquired the car in the spring of 2013 and had the engine and transmission rebuilt to my specs with a compression bump. mild performance cam and aluminum flywheel to approximate the performance of the original fuel injected cars in other than US markets. With the engine out we had the engine bay re sprayed to match the beautiful paint on the outside and detailed all the components and brackets using stainless steel fasteners for much of this. New grommets and hood seals were installed including the accelerator shaft bushings. The brake master cylinder. clutch master cylinder and slave are new. The starter is newly rebuilt using the Lucas case. Every component has been gone through. cleaned and lubricated or replaced such as choke. heater and hood release cables. The header was Jet coated with a ceramic and metal coating. polished and then flows into a dual Monza free flow exhaust. It sounds stout. The car is peppier than new and looks hardly used. It currently has 200 miles on it since the engine uprating and still has the Joe Gibbs break in oil in it. The valves and rings are seating nicely. We took great care on initial startup running the engine between 2200 and 3000 rpm for over 30 minutes. then let it cool for 24 hours before driving it. This precaution is mostly for the cam and solid lifters. The frame is in great shape. The driver’s side floor was replaced and that is all that I see that is not from the original body.
