Description

Offered for your approval: my 1969 VW Deluxe Bay Window bus. You will find many camper-type buses for sale but this is a genuine walk-thru passenger bus. It has what appears to be the original paint and plenty of "patina". It is in good mechanical condition. It starts instantly from cold and the automatic choke operates the way it should. The 1600 engine runs fine under all conditions and has been 100% reliable for me. The brakes and clutch work well. All lights, orn, nd wipers work as well. All glass is very good and so are the tires. This is a bus that you can use as a daily driver right now. The radio works (don't know about the tape player). It could be the original unit. One speaker is missing. The dash is very nice and has only two small cracks at the passenger grab handle (see photo). Interior needs some work as you can see. I have just installed a set of KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. The heater boxes are missing (see photo) but they often come up for sale on the Samba. Since VW heaters are next to useless anyway, have not seen the need to replace them. The odometer shows 51562 miles as of today. The actual mileage is unknown.
Body-wise, here is the usual Bay rust at the bottom of the windshield and some areas of the floor pan need attention as well (see photos). There is some damage to the right quarter panel as shown in photos. It does not interfere with the operation of the sliding door. If you are handy with body work (or know someone who is) this would be an easy vehicle to get into great shape as there are replacement/patch panels available for all areas (I am one of the few sellers who will put a car up on a lift and show the boo-boos as well as the nice stuff). The frame and suspension has most of the factory undercoating intact (see photos).
This cool bus has been a fun driver for me. I'm hoping it will find a good home and get the loving care and attention it deserves to keep the VW bus hobby moving forward. E-mail me with any questions.
