I have a wonderful 1948 Willys 80% restored WWII style GPW clone parade jeep named "Southern Belle" with 82nd Airborne markings for auction and for sale locally (listing could end at any time).
I have redone the exterior with body handles, decals, tire carrier and spare tire, gas can carrier (can included), period fire extinguisher (non functioning), new windshield glass and handmade windshield cover (stenciled with invasion star), bridge plate, blackout light, 82nd Airborne license plate, bumperettes, tie down webbing, floor mats all around, manilla rope, new interior seats, 8 ball shifter, new rims and military tires, new hood, body work, and paint. There are still a few dents and scratches here and there to give it some character but is a real head turner. I get great feedback from people everywhere I go in it. I have included some pics of the day I got it and some of the work as it was being done. The parade pic is from this years 4th of July parade locally.
I have also replaced the manual fuel pump, rewired the brake lights, had the carburetor redone, replaced the air filter, new battery cables, new battery, new starter solenoid, new alternator, new belt, new coil, new gas tank, new gas lines, and a few other odds and ends.
This is a 68 year old vehicle, it has some quirks. At some point someone has taken the original engine out and replaced it with a 72' Ford Pinto motor. It runs good and is easy to find parts for. If it sits for a long time (like a couple of weeks) the fuel will run down the gas line and it takes awhile to get it pumped up to the carb. I usually just take the line off at the carb and pour some fuel down in there to help it get primed up. Once the fuel hits the carb it starts right up. Adding an electric fuel pump might help. I have installed a stop cock above the fuel pump to help keep the fuel up in the line, and that helps for short term storage. Obviously it has no power steering and is tough to get around in tight spaces, and the clutch takes a little getting used to.
It still needs to have some electrical wiring done. The head lights need to be wired up and the turn signals don't work. The brake lights and parking lights do function properly. The gas gauge is not functioning properly, nor is the speedo (usually not a problem, it only goes about 40 mph). Temp gauge and volt meter seems to work fine. It could use a new clutch and a brake job. I changed the oil about a year ago. the interior is in good shape, but still needs to be painted.
To sum up, this is a great little jeep for anyone that wants a weekend warrior, parade, veterans day, or car show project. Most of the hard work has already been done. I have tried to include all the information I can think of, but if you have any questions please ask before you bid. Items inside of Jeep (such as blankets, first aid kit, tents, cammo netting, etc.) are not included.
