1950 Willys Jeepster Phaeton | Click Photos to Enlarge
| | Here's a 1950 Willys Jeepster phaeton that was one of my late father's last projects. Dad wasn't much into "restoration"......he'd get a project running, moving, stopping, get as many lights and accessories operating as he could. Clean it up inside and out to the best of his abilities and drive it into his storage garage......never to be operated again. He'd then move on to the next project, and this Jeepster is no exception. We estimate it has been sitting in the garage since approx 2004.MECHANICALS - We have gotten this old gal running and moving, but it has no brakes. It has half of a tank of foul-smelling goo in the gas tank, so we disconnected the fuel line at the fuel pump, attached a lawn mower gas tank and ran if on fresh gas. The goo in the tank has remained there and has not been pumped through the system. While the over-drive might work, we did not test it. The tires are marginal at best, and the right rear has a "port-a-wall" whitewall on it !EXTERIOR - Originally maroon, a prior owner repainted the exterior dark blue and installed a white top. The side curtains ( which I obviously could not get seated properly with the top up ) are black, same as the original top would have been. Note the plastic window material in the curtains and the rear windo are all original and clouded up - they will all need to be replaced. The body and floors are all in good solid condition - this vehicle was apparently garaged all its life and rarely - if ever - out in road salt. There are some small dents and dings here and there. Most of the chrome is ok, but some will need to be scrubbed with cleanser and a brush to clean off some oxidation. The roof is in excellent condition, with the exception of the rear window.INTERIOR - Seats and carpets are dusty and dirty, but will clean up ok. Dash and interior metal panels are all maroon - the original color. Steering wheel was painted light yellow at some point. There is a generic radio installed but no speaker - it is untested. Odometer shows 68971 miles and may possibly be original.THREE IMPORTANT ITEMS:1. We expect this vehicle to be picked up buy the winning bidder - or their agent - within two weeks of the end of the auction. PLEASE do not bid, win and then spend 2 monthsfiguring out how to retrieve this vehicle ( yes - that has happened to us, and it will be snowing around here in the western suburbs of Philadelphia PA by then !!2. This vehicle is in my mother's name, and we insist on visiting the local notary Monday-Saturday to get her name off the title. It you're from PA, we can transfer the title right then. If you are from outside of PA, the Notary must provide you with the paperwork you'll need to transfer it in your state. No EXCEPTIONS. The Notaries in PA are closed Sundays, so do not plan to pick up on a Sunday !3. An open 1-car trailer or a rollback are the only things that can fit into my mothers driveway. Anything else will not fit through the stone entry walls at the end of the drive, which also slopes uphill from the street. Do not think you'll get a 50' enclosed trailer up her drive - trust me - you won't ! Please feel free to e-mail me questions and I will do my best to answer them, even though I will be away most of the week on business. We want this neat old Jeepster to go to a good home and be driven, as it was designed for. The three major things that we feel need repair are brake repair, gas tank cleanout or replacement and new tires. Spent the winter tinkering and by spring you should be ready to tool around in top-down splender ! LAST but not LEAST - please ignore shipment indicated via "Media Mail".....Ebay insists I enter one of their choices, but "Customer Pickup" isn't one of the choices ! This auction is DEFINATELY customer pickup !! | | | | PAYMENT TERMS: Thank You for your bid. If you PAYPAL today, I will probably ship your package tomorrow.
