I bought this jeep when I was in high school in the mid 80's (in Nebraska) and drove it for several years. When I was buying it. I was told that I was the third owner since the military. The first owner and a buddy had taken a bus to the east coast (Maryland. I think) and driven back 2 jeeps. The first owner used it to ice fish and at some point a wheel when through the ice and the jeep caught itself on the sprung steel rear bumper. that damage was never repaired (see phtotos). I think the second owner painted it red. it was a pretty rough paint job even in the 80's. When I bought the jeep the title in Nebraska said it was made by Kaiser. but when I moved to Colorado the title was changed to Willy's. I'm told that it is in fact a Willy's. I was hopping snow drifts one day (in 1986 or 1987) and sunk through the snow. By the time I got out. the engine needed to be rebuilt. When I opened the engine. I found that a wrist pin had previously gouged a valley in one cylinder wall (one of the previous owners had fixed the piston but not the cylinder wall. The engine had never really used oil. so I was surprised. Anyway. I had the crank turned with new bearings. sleeves put in the cylinders. I don't remember what else was done (maybe new pistols?). From my memory. I think the engine has original size pistons. I took the jeep to Colorado when I went to college and drove it there. Then brought it to Texas when I moved after graduation. I drove it some. then decided to restore it. and did not make it very far. It has been in my garage or in storage since about 1992. And I've given up my dream to rebuild it. so now it's up to you. It has a 24 volt electrical system. but the original generator and voltage regulator have been replaced with an alternator. A lot of the electrical components have been converted to 12 volt. The jeep uses two twelve volt batteries in series for the starter and any other 24 volt loads. Any 12 volt loads come off the middle of the batteries (across the first battery). My memory is that the "black-out" lights are still 24volt. But I think the head lights are 12 volt. The previous owner added blinkers. again I think 12 volt. The jeep has 2 front seats which were recovered by the previous owner with brown vinyl. and I have no idea what is inside them. There is also an original rear seat that folds down with it's original covering. There are several extra tires/wheels. One tire is stamped 1952 (and I think it still holds air). I think the guy that I bought it from replaced the tailgate as it is basically new (although over 30 years old at this point. so I guess new is relative). The jeep has no top or roll bar. I took seat belts out of an old car and added them as best I could when I was in high school. The gas tank has a wide gas cap and a pull out extension. designed to be filled from a jerry can. Included in the sale is one jerry can. I have no idea if it will actually hold gas anymore. but I used it when I drove the jeep. (As I recall. the jeep has no gas gauge. so I carried an extra 5 gallons and just poured it in when I ran out of gas. )I had cut the floor out to begin welding in new. And I had started to weld new plate in the drivers side. which you can see in the photos. The floor pans seem to be in pretty good shape. you can see them in photos. The jeep is for pick up only. it will be either at zip code 77023 (my house) or 77573 (storage). Houston/League City.
