I bought this 1974 Chrysler New Yorker in April 2015 and it was my daily driver for six months. I remarried in June, hich created more expenses than I had expected; therefore, do not have the resources (storage, unds, r talent) to restore the car.
The New Yorker basically is solid but needs TLC. The car had been sitting for an extended period prior to my purchase, o the paint is faded; it’s a “22½-footer.” Some rust is apparent, ut to the best of my knowledge is not serious. Unfortunately, am unable to get beneath the car to take photographs.
The TorqueFlite automatic shifts fine. The brakes feel okay and the car stops evenly, ut I have not had the brakes checked.
The car has four new Michelin LTX-MS2 tires (P235/75R15), new Mopar battery, nd a recent oil and filter change.
The car has factory a/c (working!), ower windows (3½ of which are working ― the right rear goes down and up only a few inches), ilt/telescope steering wheel, ruise control (working), ower trunk lid release, nd AM/FM radio (not working).
The vinyl seats, nterior, nd headliner are very good. The lenses are missing which cover the front door courtesy lights (working).
The car will need the carburetor rebuilt (runs roughly until the engine is warm and the fumes are noticeable inside the car) and will need a radiator eventually; both issues existed when I purchased the car. However, n the six months I drove it, ever did it fail to get me to my destinations. The speedometer was replaced by a previous owner, o the mileage on the car is unknown completely. The trip odometer does not work properly (the primary odometer does), he gas gauge does not work (needs sending unit), nd the clock does not work. The windshield washer fluid bottle is cracked. The right (passenger) windshield wiper does not work. There is a small crack in the lower left corner of the windshield (see picture) which is out of the driver’s field of vision. The rear air shocks are weak. Possibly due to its long time sitting prior to my purchase, here are several leaks (transmission fluid, oolant, tc.) which are visible in the photograph of my asphalt driveway.
