1976 Jaguar XJ12C
The rarest Jaguar ever produced! Only 1,885 coupes produced word wide with only 663 1976 versions ever. Only 604 right hand drive vehicles were ever produced total! Highly collectable, ll numbers matching original 95% complete restorable car.
Values have increased 50% over the last year. Only made from 1975 to 1977, he 2-door vinyl topped pillarless coupe was probably one of the best looking touring cars made by Jaguar. The XJC's were known as the world's fastest vinyl roof and were unique in their styling and complexity. The 5343cc V12 developed a healthy 285bhp which could propel this glamorous car up to 240 km/h and also allowed it to guzzle petrol at an alarming rate! Acceleration 0-60 MPH was 7.8 s.
After a turbulent two year production run the Jaguar XJ12C was dropped from the Jaguar range, ess than 2,000 cars had been built. The XJC is a two door version of the XJ6 four door saloon. When Sir William Lyons began styling the new XJ models in the mid 1960's, t was obvious that he had notions of a two door coupe in mind for eventual production. Many of these early styling mock-ups were based on the coupe theme in various shapes, orms, nd sizes. The XJC was the last Jaguar car to be designed and build by Sir William Lyons.
The XJC was a victim of the times and was never really given the attention of backing it deserved. Sadly, he production of the XJC was all too short. After commencement in 1975 the last of these great vehicles rolled off the line in November of 1977. The final 96 coupes were actually badged as 1978 cars -- for whatever reason is anybody's guess.Paradoxically this has helped the XJC to become the rare collectible classic it is today. Although prices have never reached the dizzying heights achieved by the E type, t remains one of, f not the best value for money classic cars available today. To date, he XJC is Jaguars only two-door fixed head coupe saloon.
This car was a running driving example when it was in a flood while being stored. It was salvaged and I bought it intending to restore it. I have another one that is a driving survivor and have always loved these cars. I just do not have the time to dedicate to this project and now have decided to let go of my XJC. They have long been expected to climb astronomically in value as they remain the rarest production Jaguars and among the most luxurious ever made. That escalation in value began in January of 2015 and they have increased approximately 50% in the last year alone after being flat for nearly a decade.
