1962 Lincoln Convertible
Up for sale is my beautiful and rare 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible. Perfect example of an original, ust-free California classic that's never left the state. Only about 2000 of these convertibles were produced in 62’ and they are getting harder and harder to find each year especially in solid condition like this one. I am the third registered owner to the car and it has always been very well cared for. It has just over 71k original miles on the factory powertrain and still drives like the day it rolled off the assembly line. Clean CA title in hand with current tags until August 2016. The Lincoln comes equipped with the original 430ci big block engine and 3-speed automatic transmission. Runs excellent and shifts smooth into all gears. It has lots of power and picks up fairly quick for such a large car (320hp / 465 lb-ft). Everything in the engine bay is fairly stock aside from a few recent upgrades like a Pertronix igniter for faster starting, he charging system was converted from the factory generator to a more reliable high amp alternator setup, n Edelbrock air intake, nd it has an Optima red top battery to supply plenty of electrical power. In the past 6 months I have had the carburetor rebuilt, ower steering pump rebuilt, ew water pump, adiator re-cored, ower brake booster, aster cylinder, nd I have always kept up with routine maintenance. The suspension, ower steering, nd power brakes all work excellent and the car feels safe at any speed. It has the factory 14” wheels & polished hubcaps with brand new wide whitewall tires. No squeaks or rattles when driving and the power-train runs very quite as any Lincoln should. The interior was all done a few months ago and it included new seat upholstery, nterior carpet, oor panels, ash detail, ahogany wood inserts, runk carpet, nd a custom tire cover. Convertible top was also replaced less than a year ago with a high end Mercedes canvas material that looks absolutely stunning (over $6k spent on top upholstery and new interior). Aside from the canvas top I also had pretty much every component of the hydraulic/electrical system replaced or rebuilt including the main top pump, deck lid cylinders, oth convertible top cylinders, ebuilt all the relays, eplaced hydraulic hoses, nd replaced the trunk flap motor. If you know anything about convertible Lincolns then you already know it can cost a small fortune to have the top working properly. I spent at least another $5k in parts and labor replacing all the top components. The car was painted in 2010 and still looks very nice. As I mentioned before, t has all original rust-free sheet metal throughout and it’s never been in an accident. Original glass all around in great shape as well. All 4 windows roll up and down fine (rebuilt switches and window motors recently). All the exterior and interior trim was removed and re-chromed last year. Almost $5k spent triple-chroming bumpers, oldings, nd interior trim. I also installed 65’ taillights because I think the design of that year was by far the best of all early 60’s Lincolns (original 62 lights to the car included). This beauty turns heads and gets thumbs up wherever I drive it. If you don't like being the center of attention when you're out on the road then this car is not for you.
