Description

Due to health problems and now losing my job. we are forced to sell my husbands fabulous car collection. This is a 1960 Sunbeam Alpine Series I. I will do my best to answer any question you may have on this fantastic little car. The title shows it to be a 1961. but after checking with other Sunbeam enthusiast. he found out the since it was built the last week the Series I was made. it must have been shipped and sold in 1961. My husband purchased this car a few months ago. and only drove it the first day it arrived. I think it was a little more than he expected! It has the V6 conversion that many Sunbeam owners love. I believe it was out of an early model Mustang. It was put in with the kit that other Sunbeam owners use. I can't remember the man that made the kit. but I'm sure you can find out through other owners. Please see the photos attached. It was extremely fast! The transmission was very smooth. and the motor was in excellent condition. You might see the other Alpines in the background that he was hoping to restore. A 1962 that was owned by Max Helton. the Nascar chaplain that passed away not too long ago. and a 1966 Alpine that was in Puerto Rico. That is a 1968 Chevy that we will also be selling in the background. along with a 2000 Roush Cougar. which there were only 112 made by ROUSH. He wanted to wet sand the car to shine it up. You'll notice the small marks on the car where the previous owner must have glued the chrome to. as I guess Tigers had. I have not cranked the car up since he last drove it. so you will need to make sure the shipper can pull it up on the carrier unless he can jump it. It needs new spark plug wires. and plugs. He said he felt it also needed new brake pads or something. Notice the nice shine on the chrome! It is a beautiful car that appears to have been well maintained. The yellow on the car is the terrible pollen that has recently fallen from our pecan trees. You can also see the pecan that I guess fell into the engine bay when I opened the hood for photos. HA! No extra charge there! One of the tires has gone flat since it was parked not long ago. I would buy new tires if I were you. There is a little bubbling on the back passenger side lower quarter panel that he wanted to repaint after he wet sanded the car. but bless his heart. he won't be able to do these things. The rocker panels are in great shape. but his brother is a mechanic and said he recommends the floor pans be painted with rust converter. or patched. I don't think he saw any holes there. but my husband wanted to patch it instead if it needed it. I know he said the underneath looked good. The interior upholstery is fair. as is the carpet. As you can see. the dash. instruments. and transmission handle appear to be original and in excellent shape. but the steering wheel looks like it is new. He never pulled the convertible top out. but the previous owner said it was new. I can't assure you of that because it has had the hardtop on it since we've had it. Glass is very nice on the hardtop. but the liner will need to be replaced someday. I really don't know what else to say about this great little car. but if you can think of anything at all. I will do my best to answer it or have his brother look at it and see if he can help. Please pay $750 by Paypal within 24 hours after the auction ends. You can pay the final payment through Paypal if you want to pay the fees. but we would rather have a cashier's check. Final payment is due within 5 days. Thank you
